Someone who likes the darker side of things. They usually listen to death metal and goth music, such as Dismember and Bauhaus. Marilyn Manson is NOT goth. He's just...weird. Real goths are not depressing and suicidal like the posers you see at Hot Topic. Goths are fun to be around and aren't afraid to laugh at themselves every so often. They don't worship Satan and aren't evil despite what some ignorant people might say. Goths don't all dress alike either. They like to create their own unique style. Goths are also very intelligent and creative. A lot of them are writers and artists. Goths DON'T envy the popular people. They are what they are because it makes them happy. Goths would rather stay who they are and be among the so called "freaks" than be like everyone else and be popular. They understand that there are more important things in life than popularity, and usually succeed in life while the popular ones don't become much of anything.

If someone becomes "goth" because they couldn't get any friends or are depressed and angry all the time, they are most likely a poser.

"I get called a goth as i have dark hair and like black clothing and rock music.. nope just a rocker.. "

It is a catch all term at times and the more pretentious would reject the label as goths don't conform to anything, reinforcing the south park stereotype.

true goths wear the most amazing clothes and embrace the true meaning. A lot of people confused emo's for goths, im more what you would call a skater/biker rock girl at times.. then at times I look nothing like that and look very normal!

A mosher is more of a rocker/metal head.

I used to be a goth, I still like the fields of the nephilim, sisters of mercy, mission, alien sex fiend et al. Don't remember being anything like metal heads or what emo kids are like now.

A lot of the time 'Alternative' nights were completely separate to the rock/metal scene.

Then I had a haircut and stopped with the eye liner. I still wear a lot of black.

I also love hardcore punk and oi

You tended get 'rock and metal' venues up here and the some of the clubs that weren't metal would do 'alternative' nights once a month or on quiet nights.

Also we used to probably put in as much travel and distance as rave kids did.

I used to love that underworld or underground place in London with the coffins in it. It's been in films. Razor blade smile comes to mind.

Think it's gone now I thought 'underworld' but that's a concert place now. Fuck it, I haven't been down there in an age to play. And I do adore Camden. And wandering round like a tourist

We're usually referred to as goths (though some of our pics are us as steam/diesel punks). We just like the vampire look, so that's the way we dress most of the time.
