They seem to waste more time than they are complaining about in the first place.

A bit like this thread.

must be frustrating though if you're let down, they just need to vent usually. maybe need some advice on how not to do it again.

I can understand why people post them but sometimes you can see 3 all on the same topic within 10

"Who else can you vent too "

I know of someone who writes it in an email to himself because if he said it to anyone else theyd prescribe him antibiotics

I thought today, there was a poster who has started several daft threads. The oddball questions have collected dozens of answers. If everybody did that the forum would be unusable. I think they are timewasting threads but dont know how mods could control them.

It's all very well if the OP acts on the generally good advice given, but more often than not it's totally ignored and they post exactly the same thing again further down the line, just like the profile advice ones

It's a public forum. People may use it as they wish within the rules.

If we don't like the thread, read another, or better yet, go back into the real world!!!

if they're just venting they probably don't want advice or are possibly finding it hard to apply what advice was given.

but yeah the ones who ask for advice, and are well within their right to ignore it obviously, but get told why they are failing and don't really care, i don't see the point in that.

As are the people you started this thread about

I'm also using it comment on similar threads that I think clog up the forum.

I've done it before written stuff out just as a cathartic method

Cool, you might be ok with a situation where one person can post dozens of daft threads, just because it is within the rules. My opinion is that the forum would be better if that didn't happen.

We agree on the last bit. The forum may welk be better if such trite bollocks didn't get posted.

We differ on the philosophy of whether it is right to enforce such arbitrary rules on an open forum.
