I think your figures mite be a bit wrong because there seems to be about 80 thousend watching queens of the stone age and a fair few watching the streets she has the smallest crowd of any head liner this weekend

I wouldnt say it is over commercailised it has moved witht he times to become the greatist music festival in the world with its range of music my only complaint is that the headline act should be a band

The Glastonbury Festival has been over-commercialised for ages.

It's naked capitalism writ large for everything from food and drink, ticket prices right down to the bloke who pulls you out of the mud in his tractor. Two quid for a box of matches anybody?

Not so much a hippy festival more like Dragons Den does music. Horrendous.

i myself am a big queens fan! but having seen them a few times now, i would never say they were a headline act. its not that they are not good enough! but a headline act has to steal the day! and as good as their music is, they just dont seem to have the presence of a headline act. now put a band like down ( with phill anselmo as a frontman then your talking about a headline act-even though some,if any PanterA fans reading this might only say its his glory days that make him who he is) or rage against the machine, metallica or even the foo fighters-although im not a big fan, i have seen them a few times at festivals, they are a headline band. and as she is not my kind of thing i can say she will put on a show, be entertaing, basicaly what a headliner should do. just my rather d*unk opinion lol! but glasto has as far as im aware, always seemed to be diverse, and thats what makes it the festival it is!!!

Ya pays ya money .... we will never see those heady days again. The world has changed and Glastonbury with it.

That aside, there is still lots of magic to be had.

i dont know mate i never counted em , just quoted her words during the act

but Beyonce -queens ,surely you go see the band you want to, as no one would pay for tickets to bands they dont like , would they ?

And there looked as many to me watching beyonce as there was watching verve a few years back.

Re the over commercisalisation of glastonbury .glastonbury has always been commercialised ,any band playing there was there to broaden the fan base and push there albums, nearly every single act this year pushed new product, and to them unfortunately thats what music is product, just like a car or a new jacket ...now what colour or model do you want...

Have to admit, Beyonce is not who I would expect to see headlining at Glastonbury. However, she certainly made it her own and a great promo for womanpower.

We were there, are not huge fans of Beyonce, but have to say she was brilliant (even though we left after half an hour to go and watch Pete Tong lol).

She plays music for the masses, unlike Queens of the Stoneage - they are most definately NOT a festival headline group, especially a festival that caters for so many tastes.

And I think your figures are a bit wrong too. We were pitched a few hundred metres from the pyramid stage and she definately, 100% did not have the smallest crowd of any of the headliners - she had one of the biggest.

You're making things up now to try and support your arguement which is falling flat on it's face.

Glastonbury has traditionally had Headline acts from all music genre, it's nothing new to have a universally popular act such as Beyonce to Headline the festival.

It's not a Rock festival....it's a music and arts festival.

Hear hear im glad someones pointed that out and id also like to say that if you want a rock festival with headlining bands such as Foo Fighters or Rage Against The Machine then go to Reading festival theres even violence thrown in as a freebee.I myself up untill 08 was a regular at Glastonbury ,yes it has changed since the new fence and security ppl took over but wat a safer festivel it is today and god yes its gone commercial but in this day and age would you expect any diff??? its called mooving with the times ,some 1 said earler that glasto needs to get back to the grass roots like it was in the days ov dreamscape and helter skelter,ha ha ha mad head glasto has been going since 1971 20-25 years before dreamscape lol.Anyways i love Glasto purley for the diversity of it from rock-pop-jazz-blues-mowtown-hardcore-jungle-housemusic-r+b to morris dancing ,there's stuff going on thatll please most walks of life so for me Glasto gets a big thimbs up and ill bee seeing you all there again in 2013 thats iff the end of the world dont happen on the 22nd dec 2012 but thats another story but the mad thing is ,the reason its cancelled next year is because ov the olympics will be running at the same time and theres not enuff porta loos to cover both so glasto had to get cancelled just so ppl at the olympics cn take a shit lol

Good grief people! Everyone has different music tastes which is a good thing. Who cares who agrees with your personal tastes.

Beyonce is the best and anyone who disagrees is a tasteless fool.

thing is times have changed it not soley for bands anymore glastonbury has moved on to a complete music festival, from the introduction of the dance tent in 95 to jay z headlining in 2008(remember a certain noel gallagher moaning about it) but like ppl have said money talks here and is down to sponsorship.Saying that il be looking for tickets for 2013 and if i dont like the headliners theres somany other things to do and see. If ur looking for a sponsorship free festival try Hop farm festival in kent i think there the last ones trying to hold of the grip of the capitalism sponsors etc
