According to a scientist, you're fine if you drop your food and pick it straight back up.

"That depends on if you have a 2 second dog "

If you can wrench it from his slobbery mouth in the further 3 seconds, it is still good to eat

had to google this, why does the nhs website have a page on the 5 second rule?

anyway read it and dr cutler (whoever he is) says not to eat it after it's been on the floor and to put it in the bin.

lol, this is copy and pasted off the page itself:

"To prove what he said Dr Cutler subjected the five-second rule to the rigours of scientific testing."

My food hygiene is going into over drive now saying No don't do it but my mum logic is well the kids ate dirt and I'm pretty sure I did as a child so maybe there's no harm in it.

i used to put my food on the floor and all kinds of stuff when i was a kid, hands always filthy five mins after i was made to wash them, i had a penchant for eating worms like frubes apparently, god knows what dirt and muck and bacteria i ate.

i'm never bloody ill for it though
