I just downloaded Aretha Franklin's greatest hits album.

I love her voice. Helps me chill out.

And I have all of Bob Marley's back catalogue too. I'm revising for an exam at the minute, and I love having Marley on in the background.

Via TV and Radio programmes over the past few months, it really brought back to me how some of our past stars were so darn good.

Karen Carpenter. Wow! Such a voice.

Eva Cassidy. Phew! Liquid Gold!

Matt Monro. My, he had a superb voice!

Freddie Mercury. Known for an extraordinary musical "range"

frank Sinatra. The "Guvnor".

Whatever we may feel about today's stars, they don't come near the above!
