" So to jump back, does anyone know how you can do NVQ training? I know this is an odd place to post, but heck, fabs a varied and sometimes helpful community. " Many large employers will be trying to get staff onto apprenticeships soon due to the new levy being introduced and that is where he'll get the training and quals most likely. They run from level 2 to 7 and often include nvq style vocational quals at levels 2 to 4. There are work based/related options other than nvqs as well.

"They are called VQS now and lots of places you can do but mosr require at work monitoring so if his company will pay or part pay maybe for a management level one (usually level 4) then he should make the most of it. If he searches for VQS training in his area lots will come up, just make sure he checks a few out first or speak to HR at his company and see if they use a firm" Thank you for the advice. Any chance you know whether it's possible to do some outside of work or when you are not employed. He has got to the point where he'd rather be unemployed and working towards/applying for something better, than in a job which is making him miserable.

Most are work based as they are in units based on your job. If he was getting jobseekers (which he cant for 12 weeks if he quits) they do training or he could look into the open university if he wants to train in some specifically!

Take a couple of passport photos with you along with your signing on book for when you enrol. Won"t need to pay anything out.
