"Cod, of course! Pfft, who are these strange Haddock people. And as for Pollock!? Bollocks!"

I'm lucky, I catch em all for a living. COd from the shops is shit, fresh Cod caught that day is lush, fresh Pollack is even better in my book. We don't get Haddock down south but if you want the ultimate in lush tasting local caught fish I highly recommend Sea Bream, Turbot or Brill. Plaice is a good runner up too.

Has to be fresh, line caught that day to get what I'm saying though.

What you get in the chippy is not a fair representation on how delicious fish are

"

Whats your thoughts on coley ?"

Coley is the nickname for Coalfish, which alongside Pollack, is a very close relative of the Cod, they are all the same family. They all taste very similar when fresh. We don't many Coley's down our way though, it's mostly Cod and Pollack

"I can't tell the difference. "

A cod is a lot bigger then a haddock. So normally when you get a haddock it's a full fillet including bones....a cod is a portion of a fillet and if you just get the tail end ....you will be guaranteed no bones. And they taste slightly different

Sort of, but much as the Cod can grow over twice the size of a Haddock the average size caught for sale is broadly similar. Bones in the fillet is more down to the skill of the person doing the filleting rather than the species

Haddock - once you've had it a few times, cod has barely any flavour at all. Plus, our local chippy never has it sat around waiting so it's always cooked fresh to order. Guessing the bulk of chippies do the same.
