The lost mothers

So with Mothers day rapidly approaching and all the reminders I'm finding it harder and harder to try and not think about the fact I lost mine 4 years ago to a heart attack.

I was hoping to start a post for those of us that have lost a mother or a close one, maybe share a nice memory or something.

I would buy my mum flowers for mothers day and chocolate liqours, she'd always joke "Which graveyard did you nick those from". It started because when I was about 7 or 8 I had no money but wanted to get her something nice, so when I strolled in the house with a bouquet of flowers... alarm bells started ringing.

Awww that's lovely op, keep your memories as close to your heart as you kept your mum. My mum is still with us but my bio mum died a few years ago now, I wish I had listened to my heart n got to know her better.

i dont speak to mine and its no loss - my kids and me have a fantastic relationship and my mother in law i miss terribly - who was more mother to me than mine ever was

I lost my mum 6 years ago and miss her loads. For mothers day I take some flowers to the care home near me so that another mother can enjoy them.

This is the first year without my lovely Mum. I miss her desperately. Mother's day, would also have been my parents 66th wedding anniversary.

When my mum died I was told it wouldn't get easier. I don't really feel it does, you just don't think about it as often.

That's true. There just seems a big hole, where she was. It's all the 'firsts' that are difficult.
