"Yes HIV is up as are alot of other sexually transmited diseases. The medical society says its because of the ease of getting hook ups on internet sites including dating sites. Also Aids is up among heterosexuals as alot of Bi/FAB straight guys who indulge in high risk homosexual activities are hiding this fact and barebacking women who are unaware of this guys homosexual activities. Then a heterosexual guy barebacks the same woman and put himself at the same risk. Only way to be safe is to glove up abstain or have one regular monogamous partner where both of you have been tested properly. Play with fire and your going to fet burned eventually . In the case of HIV, it can take up to 3 months incubating in someones body, when it can't be detected in a test, but they can still pass it on. If someone gets tested every 3 months, they can still spend up to 6 months passing HIV on to BB partners. We get tested and think it is important as a back up, but always use a condom swinging. | |||

Heterosexual people (particularly those over 50) are the fastest growing group of new HIV infections because they don't think they're at risk and so are more likely to have unprotected sex. Yes HIV infection is significantly higher among gay/bi men, but there is a significant minority of gay/bi men, particularly on the scene in London who fetishise bareback sex and have lots of it in the knowledge they will inevitably become HIV+. I have many gay friends and know people who are part of that scene, one in particular who deliberately became HIV+ that way. The majority of gay and bisexual men are actually much more careful and knowledgeable about the risks of HIV and other STIs that the average heterosexual person. The real risk group is people who think 'it's only really gay/bi men who have HIV'. Aside from the health risks, hetrosexual bareback sex is never worth is for an unsnipped man. 18 years of 15% of your income being taken from you is not worth it! | |||
