Straight or curved stairs? Motor unit itself has been getting smaller every couple of years and aren't that wide, depends on width of stairs...straight rail is easiest to put in...some mobility shops have demo models you can look at

I think you have to consider it in terms of what it saves you now and the benefits it will provide rather than the resale value.

I'm sure. It's a technical bit of kit with relatively low sale volumes.

I've been trying to work out whether it would even be possible for my home. When I bought my place it was just a year after not being able to walk but I could shuffle on my bum.

Good idea. It's always a good idea to plan to put it in before its needed in earnest. As soon as you need one, like yesterday, the usual providers have got you over a barrel.
