Seeing as the price had dropped, why hasn't petrol's ? It usually reacts quickly to any rise!

Well Clem - I'm not a petro-chemical industry Economist by any stretch of the imagination but I'd hazard a guess that it's because the oil companies like to make massive profits at the expense of the little people like us

Most of the cost of fuel is tax. I could be wrong but on average a garage makes about 3p per litre. As an example a certain defence contractor is paid in oil for providing certain services to a middle eastern country.

because the petrol you are using now is from the older stock that costed more money.

when the new stock comes through it will be cheaper, but not as cheap as it could be.

that's how economics works i think?

Some of it will be to do with supply and demand. They've probably cut the amount they're drilling if the price is lower at the moment. Lack of Competition and taxes.
