Hi, Just wondering if any of you guys can recommend things to do/avoid in Vegas...nothing kinky....talking restaurants ,sites of interest etc.....I've got the guide books but any insider knowledge is always better!

If you go into the casinos be careful of your choice of clothing.

I packed patterned dresses and i clashed with the carpets.

The Bellagio Hotel is beautiful inside and has a water fountain display outside.

Ceasars Palace has a good shopping arcade with designer shops.

You will probably do a fair bit of walking so take comfy shoes

If they still do it Treasure Island do a pretty cool free show outside the hotel on an evening. And a trip up the Stratosphere is worthwhile, there is a couple of rides at the top if you like that kind of thing.

It's been quite awhile since I was in Vegas though.

Getting from one end of the strip to the other use the bus system its fairly cheap.

If you want drinks for your hotel room (non alcoholic) there's a walgreens near planet hollywood or down near the hooters hotel there is a gas station with shop (the shops within the hotels are extortionate)

See freemont street at night when its lit up, lots of hotels have free things to see inside and outside and make for a fun evening. I went out to a place called market square which is past mandalay bay on the bus, nice for shopping and dinner

I'd say helicopter ride at night down the strip

See a show, if you stay at the belagio tip the receptionist when you check In for a room upgrade and you'll likely get one which can see fountains from and stream music to TV while you watch from room. Something like cirque at the belagio good.

The canyon - get a flight there - again money permitting a he'll ride through it when there is amazing but again just walking around and doing the hanging off the edge photo a must.

The roller coaster at the New York hotel.

Having a dabble on one of the tables(make sure you check what minimum bet is all the tables and casinos different)

The old strip worth looking at.

The venitian hotel is impressive to walk about in amazing ceilings in the canal and shopping part.

Comfy shoes needed!

In 'n' out burger (yeah, I'm dead classy me), the Hash House (I thought I'd died and gone to heaven), and Ramsey's bar and grill (for pudding I had another burger) for food.

Inside the Paris us pretty cool, inside Caesers is even cooler (you could certainly lose an hour of so wondering around and it is air conditioned).

I enjoyed Fremont street too, it's certainly worth a bus ride up there.

If you fancy a bit of shopping, hit the 'south' outlet mall; it's air conditioned, the 'north' one isn't!

I'm sure I'll remember more.

A lot has already been mentioned. The Venetian is good. The all you can eat buffets are something different too - $15 and a wall of food. There's a lot of shows, some nostalgic some will be whatever is there for that season but you're expected to tip the ushers for a decent seat.

As others have said make sure you do the hotels and the displays - the volcano erupting at the Mirage, the water fountain display at Bellagio etc.

A walk along the strip and stopping off at the various theme hotels is always good .. the monorail is a decent way to travel up and down the strip if your feet are tired!

Of course the Grand Canyon is too nearby to miss if you're in Vegas. Some tours will take in the Hoover Dam as well (either air or coach).

Have fun! You'll have a great time but gamble (if you must!) responsibly!!

Trust me. When helicopters are concerned the absolute last thing you want is cheapest.

Definitely a helicopter trip. Make sure it's one that lands in the canyon. Worth every penny.

"O" at the bellagio. Amazing.

Rotating restaurant at the top of the stratosphere. Get a window view. Sorry can't remember the name.

Be sure to blank the poor buggers who've ended up handing out flyers for a living, but do take advantage of those selling water for a dollar. Have a wonder through as many of the hotels as you can. In fact, plan a walk down the strip that goes through as many hotels as possible because a) most of them are pretty cool, some are awesome, and b) air conditioning.

Oh, if you're a greedy fucker, like me, the heart attack grill just off Fremont street might have your name written all over it.

is years since I went but I remember doing an organised tour to catch all the free attractions outside the big hotels, and going for an all you can eat buffet on the top floor of the Luxor hotel..

I also did a lot of walking so comfy shoes were essential

all the hotels ive just looked at want to charge a resort fee ontop of the room rate!?seems a rip off does this have to be paid?i dont need wifi papers etc i just want a room!

You can refuse the resort fee in most of them - who needs local calls and morning papers and gym access (you will end up walking A LOT so prob skip the usual gym routine)
