London

Whilst on my travels recently, I met a spiritual guru type. While I don't believe in that drivel, he said I didn't belong where I currently live. He's right.

Nothing ties me to London and I've had some wonderful times but it makes me miserable.

Thing is, where do I go? If money were no object, it'd be somewhere far flung and warm. But it is. So I'm stuck on these Isles for now.

I like the sea, I like sex, I like kink, I like alternative. Where's good?

I moved to Hertfordshire when I realised my love of London was waning. London is 20 minutes away. I have solitude in countryside when I need it.

Personally I realised that another city would just replicate all London's issues while bring a poor imitation of the place

I jest of course...

If you know what your into then finding people who enjoy the same things really isn't that difficult anywhere, let alone one of the most populated places in the country...join a likeminded group get out there so to speak, you'll find plenty who like similar things

West Wales and Cardiff

"Cardiff "

I like Bristol.

I agree that smaller cities have the same problems, but what I've always loved about a place like Cardiff is there's good "city stuff" like world class opera, but I can have my boots on and be walking up a mountain in the Beacons or a lovely beach in an hour.

Smaller cities are very "get-outtable".

Essex cos it's the driest county in the country, still love going back in the summer, but avoid the new towns...

For the swinging lifestyle though it's the West Midlands, easily accessible to any part of the country and lots of rural tranquillity extremely close to a major city that has all the London opportunity without the price tag...

I spent 3 days in Brighton in November a few years back and loved it.

Rye is lovely and not far from Hastings.

Of course, I don't know how friendly people are there, but if you lived in a smallish village you would probably get to know people.

Well Brighton is only about an hour from London on the train. Also, there are plenty of smaller communities within the town itself with plenty of ofther within 10 miles. It's a pretty cosmopolitan place. There's a drag scene too.

Essex..

For all its faults and bad reputation, it's got some really nice areas, it also has the longest coastline of any county in the UK.

And what's even better, your an hour away from London in most places..

What's concerning me is how you can be tired of London?

London is without doubt one of the world's greatest cities and I don't subscribe with any view to the contrary despite it being almost a national pastime to knock ourselves.

But I'm a country boy from a rural background so I could never live there again despite loving to visit.

Wherever you end up I hope you find happiness OP, life's too short to not be properly content so follow your dreams as much as you are reasonably able to

Maybe I need a slave who lives by the sea with a spare room I can pop to as and when I felt like it. Now that'd be perfect

I did it gradually, From Brixton to the sub's then London/Essex border a couple more moves & we have ended up in nowheresville between the Rivers Crouch & Blackwater and 10mins from the deserted coastline.

Only thing I miss is being able to hop on the tube and be up town in 10 mins, now its an event requiring a hotel if drinking late.
