Question for the dieters!

Jump to newest

I think oooh when I've lost 3st I'll look like a supermodel. But I don't. (wtf??!)

So my question for you lovely dieters out there - how do you decide you're at your 'final weight'?

Is it how you look

or how your clothes fit

or staying a bit plump to fill out the wrinkles (for oldies like me)

or ...you're just sick to death of f***ing lettuce.....!

Not a dieter but I do exercise (running and gym) regularly, and eat to help my fitness. So I know if I'm doing a 10 mile run on Sunday I have to watch what I eat or drink on the Saturday especially in the evening.

I went from a 34 waist to now a 30 so happy with that, but wish I could be faster when I run, so will look at food that'll help achieve my target.

So to answer your question, weight not bad but improving my fitness probably never

All depends on the individuals targer. I'm aiming for more defined abs. But I'm also dieting, cardio and weight lifting so I don't look too scrawny at the same time.

I'd say just pick a target you'll be comfortable with and aim for that. No one should be happier with your body than yourself

I had a weight in mind. Sailed past that and now need to put more on.

It was clothes that I took more notice of. Having to keep buying smaller sizes was great

I've never got to my final weight that I wanted to be. I don't think that it's achievable.

I go on how my clothes fit.

Do you mean because of your bone structure? According to the BMI charts I need to be another 3st lighter but I never will be.

For me it's not about reaching a certain weight, it's getting to a size I'm happy with and keeping there. Still 2 more dress sizes to go and I think that's enough. Too much emphasis on being within a target weight.

I don't tend to diet...usually if I'm not feeling my best I up the exercise a bit (and complain non-stop about it).

I usually go off of how my clothes fit. I have an ideal weight, though. But it's mostly my ideal because it tends to correlate with when my pants feel like they fit best.

I lost a lot of weight recently I've gone from a size 24 to a size 10/12, I'm happy with my size now, I'm at the target weight I set and I thimk I look ok dressed, undressed in another matter though, I am more self conscious about my naked body now than when I was a size 24, I haven't had a meet in months because of this, there is no way I could get naked in front of anybody as I am, my skin has gone really loose and looks far uglier than when I was just fat, with cloths on though I feel great, a good bra and a pair of spanx works wonders

Congrats.

I have the same problem. I'm going to get basques and never be naked again. I think my target weight is now too low, I'll just look like a deflated balloon.

Oh god I know exactly how you feel, I have lost over 8 st and have that awful apron you're left with after such drastic weight loss. Still can't bear to look at myself naked. And yes thank god for Spanx x

I have lost over five stones and there is still some to go. I will know when I have reached my target. It is partly about numbers and measurements but mostly about how I feel about myself. Good luck with your quest. X

It's about how I feel and see myself.

I'd be happy with out my muffin top well it's the whole bakery but I've never had a flat tummy even when I was under 8 stone.

I think you'd disappear if you're saying that would be a total of 6st. Three sounds like a lot for you.

I lost 21lbs 8 years ago and it made me a bit body dysmorphic. I felt fatter than when I started. It stayed off for four years but I am now fatter than when I started.

I'm sticking with being able to fit into my clothes.

I gained 3st, just recently got back to the size I was the last time we met.

I have clothes from size 12 to 20 and most fit. I'm on the verge of chucking out the small stuff though. Hence my OP. I don't think I'll ever be a 'happy size', I'm just working on how I can be ok with that.

No I don't,I need to lose weight around my stomach area which is not a good place to carry it. It just stays around the stomach,I wouldn't mind if it gave me bigger boobs or more shapely leg's,but it doesn't. I've gone up nearly two jean sizes in a year.

That's head not body stuff then. I got rid of my smaller clothes. If I lose weight I'll want new stuff to match my mood at that time.

I hope you find your point of contentment.

Ah sorry I misunderstood. I need a diet that takes fat from my legs and arse and puts it on my boobs.

Yeah I didn't really explain my post very well,I just have no off button at the moment even when I'm full I can still carry on. I'm putting it down to my age and approaching the big 'M'

5 stone down, a coupleish to go here. I started off as mostly a size 20 and I am currently mostly a size 14, aiming for a 12ish. Between another one and a half and two stone down from where I am would make mathematical sense and would also put me in the healthy BMI range. So that's my aim. But if I am happy with how I look good naked before then that's where I'll stop.

you're not fat OP, unless you've put weight on since i've seen you maybe?

when my weight stays as it is really, that's when i think i accept it.

i lost 5 stone after going up to 16 and a half stone when i my 4 were babies and toddlers. i just starved myself for 4 months, added 2 back on when i started eating again (it went on in 2 weeks ), then, coz i was able to move more easily and was more conscious about what i was eating i lost a few more stone again. it's been suck around 11 stone to 11 and half for ages now and i've just accepted this is probably my normal weight now.

i'm a stone and half heavier than before i had kids. so never been that slim really.

exercise helps a lot with your body shape i noticed. my legs and arms are getting muscly again, don't really like it but my genes dictate how my body is going to be as well as my activity.

really? congrats, especially if you were trying to do that.

exercise just changes your shape really, adds bulk in places where it looks good i guess. is good for general fitness mostly.

for me its always how I feel comfortable. and yes I know I am slim and all that but that's pure luck with my genes and the fact that I forget to eat a lot.

personally- I don't like it if my stomach streches out more than my boobs. unfortunately my boobs are extremely small...

Having never gotten close to my ideal weight I can't comment personally but, a friend who lost 3.5st once told me, her recommended weight was 11.5st. She reached that but said she felt it didn't feel right. She deliberately gain 7lbs and her body felt comfortable on her!

So I guess it's an all round happy place.

Mine is when I loose my jiggly bits! But I'm sure I'll never be happy with the final result and ill always want to improve. I'd never stop gymming and eating healthy though as I'd just put it all back on!
