"After seeing the recipe thread it had me thinking of good whole food meals you can knock up for next to nothin. So how about so meals us oldies can pass on to the young on here? I'll kick it off with one of my favourites....liver and onions which I can do for under £2 for 4 meals " | |||

How much does it cost lol" depends how many you're cooking for, but the cheaper the veg and meat then the cheaper the meal. less then £1 for the potatoes. you could replace the meat for cheese when the veg and potatoes have finished cooking, just drain the pot and grate cheese into it. it'll melt. | |||

"You cannot beat the old staple I was brought up on as a kid, Mince and Potatoes! Minced Beef or Pork. Potatoes (pre boil, then cut into chunks) Onion. Gravy or Stock. Worcestershire Sauce. Salt / Pepper to season. 500 g meat plus potatoes etc will stretch to 4 meals. Superb!" Nice one that's my kind of food too. Here's another one "Panackelty" it's a north east dish....a tin of corned beef two or three sliced carrots,sliced onions and Potatoes. ..sliced of course. 3 oxos and cornflour. ....prep 10 minutes cook half a hour and a big pan full for around £2.50-£3.00....eat with bread optional | |||
