Hmmm depends how old is old

I love Ella fitzgerald's Cole Porter stuff, less jazzy and more soul in it.

'Everytime We Say good Bye' is awesome

Slightly newer but still very old:

Maggie May - Rod Stewart (I don't really like him but love that song)

My Brother Jake - Free

The Message - Grand Master Flash and The Furious Five

what do you make of the current trend to make modern songs retro ?

e.g. paul anka's 'rock swings' album or the baseball's 'strike' ?

i find them entertaining at the start (i have both CDs) but they lose their attraction after a few plays

not like the old classic swing numbers, which i, like you, could listen to time and again

Not sure who sang the below... but always nice to hear..

Hush little Baby, don't say a word,

Daddy's gonna buy you a mocking bird.

If that mocking bird don't sing,

Daddy's gonna buy you a diamond ring.

If that diamond ring turns to brass,

Daddy's gonna buy you a looking glass.

It that looking glass gets broke,

Daddy's gonna buy you a billy goat.

If that billy goat don't pull,

Daddy's gonna buy you a cart and bull.

If that cart and bull turn over,

Daddy's gonn buy you a dog named Rover.

If that dog named Rover don't bark,

Traditional song, but a 60's version was Charlie and Inez Fox

There's a version on you-tube of Carly Simon and her then hubby James Taylor doing a live in concert version, where Carly is looking well fit.
