They only work if the person winking has read the profile and the interests and match what the people getting the wink are looking for. Failing to do that turns a 'Check me out, I think you're interesting' ice breaker into a 'I'm a twat, please block me' filter.

Nope, not for me. If someone is interested enough I'd think they'd message rather than wink. Same applies in reverse, if someone catches my eye I'd message them rather than click a button and wait and hope they noticed.

They're only worth going if a profile positively outlines that winks are welcomed.

Absolutely not if you get a ranty and shouty "WINKS WILL BE BLOCKED" type profile.

Profiles that are silent on it tend to only be worth it if you're incredibly hot, otherwise you'll end up, like me, ignored or blocked.

I tend not to wink. Most people don't like them!

A lot of people dont react to them as they get so many messages.

I often use them if Im in a hurry and cant message especially if they want to meet today or have a status that has grabbed my attention.

I usually follow up with a message.

They do work occasionally but a message is better

I've heard in forum so many times that ladies and couples get so many messages they can't read or reply to them all and either delete or ignore

With this in mind, i think many people who have taken the time to write messages and just get this have decided to just send a wink,not necessarily because there lazy, but to see if the person they message is interested without going into length composing something that is just dismissed out of hand

We check winks and always and look at the senders profile (usually couples). If we like it we'll wink back and see if they've got anything to say.

A lot of the time they don't bother messaging back, almost like they want us to do the hard work of writing a message just because they've shown an interest.

It's either that or i suspect the hubby has gone on a d*unken winking binge without the wife knowing!

We gave up on acknowledging winks due to the vast number of profiles that contained no information about the person or had no photos at all.

If we like the look of a guys profile we'll message with what we are looking for if their profile appears to match. This works better than winks for us.

I've just had a look at our winks page and it appears to scroll on for eternity

Yes, they are worth doing, if for someone like me, who doesn't state in my profile that I don't want them.

I find them an easy way to test the water. I wink back, if I think that we may share some potentially interesting goals and outlooks.

Use your effort on fab wisely - including being efficient. Read profiles, check that you may be somewhat of interest, try out a wink instead of a 200 word intro message etc.

I like winks. They show an interest and give the person the opportunity to decide whether to message or not. I sometimes find it hard to knowcwhat to say so I send a wink and hope theyll get back to me!

Yes too many and I find them lazy. My profile states they get deleted so shows someone hasn't read it. That's an easy 'no' filter for me as I want to meet someone who's willing to put effort in

I wink is like a smile and a glance at a person across the room. You see a person you like, do you just walk over and start chatting or do you quickly give that first cheeky smile and hold a glance for a few seconds? We like winks but obviously many don't. Each to his and her own I guess.

I no longer look after having wasted time responding to a few early on and just turned out to be messer. Neither do I use it as per forums most women don't look or respond to them. A few do but then it's rare...much better to message.

I've come to the conclusion that it's a message or theyre not really interested. Some guys think picture fabs mean the woman is interested....Most likely she just thinks the photo is nice and so fabbed it...nothing more.

I understand what you're saying but there's a big difference to equating cold chat as apposed to sending a message. For me language speaks volumes. Thats what I want to see, so few can hold a conversation so that is what sets people apart here. I want to know can they communicate well. For me a meet Iisn't a quick fuck...there's engagement of mind, body and passion. I need to see those being displayed. A wink doesn't do that....

no. A wink on its own doesn't do that. But it certainly works as a way of getting me to look at you. If I like I'll respond ...if I don't then no harm done and I don't end up with messages that guys get in a strop about because I haven't read/responded quickly enough!

Very rarely do i bother sending them as i have read so many times on peoples profiles that they don't respond to winks....it seems a bit pointless, having said that they may be useful for shy ladies/couples as an ice breaker i suppose.....but pointless for single guys
