Although I've been there 4 times now, I have never actually stayed in Barcelona itself. Although me and the ex did stop over for a couple of nights occasionally, we always booked our main accommodation in a resort just up the coast. Last time we went, Calella was our base as it's only ½ an hour away on the train

Don't know of any hotels but a lively area is last ramblas

Hotel SB Icaria Barcelona, not far from Barcelonetta and Port Olimpic where you can find food and bars
