I was feeling down this week so I blatantly fished for compliments from a friend. I got nothing.

Is it ever ok to ask for compliments?

Would you compliment a sad friend if they asked?

No, I'd offer to hug them, talk about it, and offer my empathy!

There and to the left a bit

Not sure I'd ever outright ask for compliments...fish for them perhaps. That said if you're feeling down, isn't that what friends are for? Perking you up again?

Was it a male or female friend?

I do have a teeny bit of self respect.. I was only fishing.

Then I admitted it and still nothing.

No I wouldn't compliment them.

I would rather discuss the reason they are down and try and help. Once.

I don't do needy

If you have to fish or ask for compliments then it isn't a real compliment is it? True compliments happen out of the blue and make you go "ahhh thanks"
