An electric wok sounds fab,is it expensive? knowing me I would try to wash it up while its still plugged in though

Ken Hom would have a seizure!

Strangely enough,we got a new wok today too.

Found a great recipe for Char Siu,that red chinese roast pork,on Google mmmmmmm!

Its funny - i actually LOVE kitchen gadgets, big time - BUT

When it actaully comes to ddoing the cooking - and i can cook AND am quite good at it - i prefer the gas - you have SO much more control

(and what girl doesnt like control)

over what you are doing.

Had a MARVELLOUS cooker to play with this weekend - and want one

Ingredients:

1 chicken breast, skinned and sliced

1/2 packet of noodles

1/2 bean sprouts

150g sliced mushrooms

150g mange tout

150g sliced courgette

150g baby sweetcorn

1 packet Sainsbury's Stir Fry Sauce

Tbspn Soy Sauce

2 Tbspns Veg. Oil

Heat the wok until it's sizzling hot and add 1 tbspn veg. oil

Add the chicken strips and cook until golden brown.

Add all the veggies and cook for two mins.

Add the Stir Fry sauce and cook for two mins.

In another wok (if you have one) but a large frying pan will do.

Add 1 tbspn veg. oil and heat it till it's smokin'

Add noodles & bean sprouts and cook for three mins turning continually (the noodles will stick if you leave it).

Turn out onto plate and pour the chicken mix over the top. S'luverly!

*tip

If you haven't got a 2nd wok or a large frying pan put the chicken mix in the oven on a v low heat to keep it warm and use your wok again, no need to clean it, just add the oil and follow recipe above.

After you've cleaned your wok, coat it in a thin layer of oil using a sheet kitchen roll. This will keep it in good condition.

Electric wok - no good - not hot enough despite what they will try to tell you.

The only wok to use, is a good quality steel wok, on a gas hob - gets hot very quickly.

The secret of a good stir fry is "fast and furious" "In and Out" lol

Using an electric wok or a normal wok on an electric hob just isn't hot enough and the food tends to boil rather than fry and it ends up soggy ..

Other than that, throw a few bean sprouts in there, but of soy sauce, a few chillies, bit of cauliflower, in fact anything that takes ya fancy - there are no hard amd fast rules ..

No need to cook anything (apart from the meat) first - just bang it all in the wok.

Of course the meat can be cooked in the wok as well, but that needs to be done before you add the veg - this is to make certain that the meat is properly cooked 1st - we don't want food poisoning, do we ?

Its good to fry in garlic butter rather than oil. Fresh sweet pepper`s(Romaro peppers are nice)Onion, peas, rice or noodles, lots of chopped chilli`s if you like it hot. Make sure to throw in salt and pepper and any other spices you see fit.

That's very true, but I always prefer to err on the side of caution especially with chicken - I leave it all on it's loneome in the wok so I can see that every individual bit has been cooked

Your a lot of wokkers i can tell that.

And thanks for the tips, tho still gonna go for the electric one, as i use electric and my cookers sort of on a slight slope so only one side of a pan gets hot. (its the floor not cooker)

Had great reviews on the electric gadget im getting , so will let you all know how it does when i get wokking on wednesday evening

and use spicy szechuan tomatoe blue dragon sauce (only 50 cals) and a glass off red!!!!
