Some of you may recall that I recently had a brief sojourn in the local hospital while they swiftly and efficiently cut big chunks out of me

Well, yesterday I had a follow up scan and was called late last night by my GP (yup, I can never get an appointment with him, but he called to make one with me???), anyway, to cut a long story short,

The scans found a lump on a kidney, and where bits were taken away was looking a little unusual. So I have spent morning undergoing more tests, and will be back tomorrow for the results.

In an age where the NHS is constantly in the news, and staff are under fire, my own experience is that they are a caring, super efficient bunch of unsung and I acknowledged heroes and a big fro me to all the folks that have been looking after me.

PS

They think the lump is benign, but need to be sure and as far as the unusual looking bits of my insides go, they just want to make sure they have got all of the infected tissue out of me so the grim reaper still has to wait his turn

Somewhere / Everywhere /Kinksville

I couldn't moan too much about the NHS. There's always going to be the odd bad egg but on the whole the service does us proud.

All the best OP

I think NHS is fantastic only positive my dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer 5 years ago as he had regular scans also picked up growth on kidney and lungs but as it was caught so early he was treated and in the all clear still has regular checks but thanks to the early intervention I still have my dad x

Ack, what a pain - hope it all goes well for you OP, if they think it's benign it most likely is!

Good luck with the results OP, hope it turns out to be okay.

I worked for the NHS for 20 years but left to work in a private hospital as better pay and less stress! But, as you say, what would we do without the NHS and the caring staff that struggle day to day.

Good luck OP! We have only had positive experiences of the NHS. The staff have been great, but very much overworked.

I have never had issues with the NHS. I think if u are pleasant and patient with them, then the experience is always good. Get arsy with them (I have seen a few do this) then they are less likely to want to help you.

Good luck OP and I hope everything goes well xx
