So I was just randomly musing about silly or ridiculous rules or laws that exist (like you do!) and wondered what the most ridiculous rules are that you've ever heard of?

For example did you know that it's illegal to die in the Houses of Parliament?

And in Ohio it's illegal to get a fish d*unk?

I've just got these off t'internet as no other ridiculous rules come immediately to mind (

) but can you think of any other silly or just plain petty rules that you've come across to bring a wry smile to our faces?

When a retailer sells cigarettes, the sliding door etc.. on the main display must fully close before they scan the packet on the till. Othereise it's illegal.

It was both, but later laws made killing in general illegal, so we can't take potshots against our Celtic brethren any more.

From what I have been told of this law if you kill them it's legal, if they survive you can be done for attempted murder

Not sure if it's been overturned yet but it used to be illegal to make mince pies on Xmas Day - useless fact I picked up from Blue Peter (or similar) as a kid and have never forgotten!!

According to French law, any theft that do not include any element of violence, the maximum prison term is only three years, with possible parole after 18 months.

Toni Musulin, who used to work for Bricks, has stolen 11.6 million euros from the Banque de France while on duty.

On 5 November 2009 he stole the armored van he was driving.

On November 7, the police were tipped off by witnesses and searched a garage in which they found most of the stolen cash: 9.1 million euros. The remaining 2.5 million however could not be found.

He turned himself in after few months, he went to Jail for 3 years.

No one knows what happened to 2.5 million missing.

Would yo do 3 years in jail if 2.5 million are waiting for you after ?

You can shoot a welsh man with a cross bow out side Hereford cathedral on a Sunday ....true story ....the free man laws of old are quite funny and caused a bit of stink a while back again ....ie you are born a free man so not bonded to any laws m rules

I believe, and I could be wrong, that if a person dies in the houses of parliament, they cannot be pronounced dead until they are off the premises. This could be utter bullshit..

i have family up there, i came from there and lived there a good while, i don't think i'd go doing that, i imagine someone knocking at my brothers door , they'd be leaving the doorstep sideways

I googled this hoping for some funny facts but some of what i read is actually appalling

In 29 US states its legal to fire someone for being gay

In saudi arabia its illegal for women to drive

In Greece, police are allowed to arrest anyone suspected of having HIV. Police are also allowed to force HIV testing, to publicize the names of HIV-positive people and to have them evicted from their homes.

In Russia, Vladimir Putin just recently made it illegal to tell kids that gay people exist.

Finally came across some lighthearted fab appropriate ones ...

In Arizona, having more than two vibrators in your home is illegal. If you own more than two in your house, you can be subject to criminal possession.

In Massachusetts it is deemed illegal for a woman to be on top during sex.

It is illegal in Massachusetts for a man and a woman who rent a room for the night to sleep in the nude.

In North Carolina couples must have sex in the missionary position and with the curtains pulled.
