Thanks to some new software, I haven't typed a single letter to do this post.

So, in theory, it should all be spelt absolutely perfectly.

Yes, I'm looking at you, spelling police.

that's providing this thing can understand everything I say

I'll be back to look at this later.

I know a few authors that use Dragon, you can train it to understand accents, really clever bit of software!

If it makes your life easier Seeside that's great but don't feel the need to change to please others

Ah yes, I know the software. It was offered to me when I was doing my undergrad degree, but I couldn't get the hang on it (probably my Aussie accent! ). So I stuck with 'Read and write gold'.

I'd just like to say that this really is a terribly unhelpful thing to say to people when they try to make a change in life.

It might not matter to you but in t he wider world things like thid can really hold you back making improvements is important.

But when peoppe start saying dont chang for others it can be really unhelpful and make you question yourself/feel bad for "changing" and improving thier own lives.

I really do not care that people are shallow enough to judge me by my spelling as i have a hidden disability with it. Dont pay any attention to those people cause they ent perfect far from it and have no right to judge anyone else its quite petty as someones spelling does not define them as a person an should be looked past to see what is beyond.

as someone who was treated like an idiot

because they did not understand dyslexia when I was at school, as long as I know what it says I don't give a flying fuck about the way its spelt.

People who keep correcting your spelling are just as ignorant as someone correcting your speech as you are talking,

and if that's there attitude stuff them

Seeside I'm a little sad to see this.

Yes sometimes it can be difficult to read your posts but it's part of what makes you who you are and what makes you unique. Don't let other people's opinions make you change.

On the flip side I have to say it's awesome at what it does and if it makes you happier then go for it

Anybody with a reasonable degree of intelligence would recognise what you are actually saying, which is what is the important thing

If they feel the need to correct your spelling they have either not got the intelligence to actually listen to what other people are saying or the have a massive inferiority complex and it makes them feel good by correcting other people in the hope they make them feel inferior,

however I don't think they would have made Einstein or Churchill feel inferior.

So don't feel bad mate, perhaps they need to think about why they feel the need to correct people.

Does it make you feel better ?

^^ This. I always enjoy your posts and whilst I'm a bit pedantic about my own spelling, I don't expect others to have the same peccadillos. Software is an awesome tool and I'm often blown away by the advances made. Be yourself. Enjoy. X

As someone who is dyslexic and taught dyslexic children we focus on spelling phonetically.

Most school will mark spelling test a half mark if words are spelt phonetically.

We have to learn our own coping strategies just to put a sentence together before we even get on to spelling or grammar

If it makes you feel better mate that's great I'm all for it for you. Myself I'll stick with how I am I feel it's part of me now and I nether want or need anyone's approval. As for on here I very much use it as a filter. If people can't except my dyslexia I'll not be able to except them let alone want to get to know them....

Don't take this as a dig mate I'm sure by now you know me better than that. As I said if it's right for you you go with it

I know i have dyslexia visually im noy too bad but auditory im very bad so like another posters om heres brother my coping stratagey was to learn the shapes of words.

Phonetics is awful for me as i cant do the sounds properly in my head if that makes sense. I have to do it out loud so i look like a craxy person reading the ops posts as i mutter it to myself on the bus etc

my point was that it is not something to be ashamed of.

and I don't know why people et of on criticising other peoples spelling if they know what there saying then they are communicating

some people regard dyslexia as a handicap and like anything else that holds you back if you need a crutch then use it that's not the issue the issue is that you should not be made to feel embarrassed or humiliated by it.it is interesting the some of the greatest minds in history where dyslexic so is it a handicap or just a different way of your brain functioning.

It bloody hard work being dyslexic.. I spend so much time trying to work out what I want to say. Then making sure it makes sense, then is it grammatically correct and spelt right. Half the time I don't bother posting.

I'm not embarrassed, unfortunately some people like to belittle others. That just pisses me off and shows their true colours and proves they are not worth my time.
