how far are you prepared to travel

we have been to parties 70 miles away and well worth the travel but we are not prepared to go more than 25 miles for a single or couple meet.

people have said they will travel to meet us .... but what happens if you don't get on ??????

Hmmm a good one! Usually I would say no longer than an hour (I don't have a car so train everywhere) but I am travelling to Manchester next month which takes about 90mins. But thats for a sepcial occasion!

I guess people reading my profile think 'ah, she travels to Bristol'. Actually I do for work, so technically, as I don't leave my hotel room, I haven't travelled at all.

If it's someone I know who is worth the journey then I'll drive for around an hour.

If I've not met them before then I generally look for contacts who are much more local.

Nowhere. I got stood up badly last month and vowed that all first meets would be a social in my home town. If they don't want to travel then tough!

Obviously if we get on well then plans can be made.

It doesnt matter how far you travel, there is always a chance you wont get on...

Either way with a long trip there, you have a long drive home... Up to you if you want to take your chances!

As long as it takes

Been around long enough to work out if it's likely to be worth it even for a drink.

Don't expect and no disappointment.

Had 2 fuck ups in 12 yrs

About 2 hrs seems fair in comparison to miles I do everyday anyway.

Some think its desperate when they just don't realise it may be fitting in well with life.

Trying to flatter people by going the extra mile doesn't usually work.

How long would some spend getting to know someone online etc before meeting to find out they would have been better off travelling an hr or so ???

We have traveled 3-4 hours for a party. (was worth it) and going to chams soon which is 3 hours I think. But these are very special meets.

We dont want anyone driving to us a long distance as we can never be sure if the babysitter wont cancel last minute

but i dont mind the long distances and spending a bit of money as the time spent with them has been worth it.

and people further away tend to meet more than people local to me.

Why do people assume that travelling assumes we expect ??

I travel on the assumption of nothing and if it happens it was meant too.

If nothing happens may get to buy or sell a surplus of DIY materials or see the girl next door so you know what it feels like to have a sex mad neighbour

i would travel overseas for the right people, but i got to know they are the right people ..hence do a lot of research ,the higher the distance the more research. lol

It all depends on how much i have talked to them. Possibly a couple of hours each way though but if i really like someone i would think further.

For friends I don't see it as a problem, if it's for someone special it doesn't come into the equation. Everyone as their own reasons on how far they will go to meet someone and that as to be respected at the end of the day.

I don't drive but have travelled to other cities to meet people in my early days of swinging. I wouldn't do that now and would never expect anyone to travel more than 20 or so miles to meet me. I'd hate to think they'd had a wasted journey if things didn't work out and I prefer socials first so again wouldn't ask someone to travel too far for a drink.

friendship is everything will meets that are miles away.

you got to click and have a laugh, speak on the phone a few times.it all builds it up to what makes a lovely time together.

if someone is a very long way from me and they have the time i have no problem booking a hotel for the weekend and making them centre of attention.

dinner,drinks,everything to make sure she has a great time.

and if she's happy, then im happy.

Being close to the motorway helps, that could be 70 miles , it could be 20 miles if it's built up areas.

A few times I've done a 360 mile, 9+ hour round trip. It wasn't worth it and it was definitely a learning experience.

If I make that sort of effort for someone it's because it's going to be (or supposed to be) an ongoing thing and someone I get to know as a friend as well as a play partner. I have to feel valued and appreciated, and the person has to be willing to make the same effort to come and see me sometimes.

A couple of times I've not been treated particularly well and I've responded by making more effort in the hope that it'll make the other party want to reciprocate. Of course, it never did. The more I gave, the more they took and the less they appreciated me.

Lesson learned now. If I'm not treated well and appreciated from the beginning, I am out of there.

I always state before i meet people i do NOT do obligated sex, even if it takes them 3 hours to get to me if i dont feel happy, in anyway, i will not have sex with them, if they are still wanting to come thats upto them

Myself i dont travel far for a first meet, id sooner meet local guys so neither of us are doing a lot of traveling

ive been to austria been to glasgow been to france exeter bath ..even essex !!! it all depends on my mood my time my circumstances im really not averse to jumping on a plane if it feels right .....at t he moment tho only meeting local guys ....

I don't really think about distance that much... But i think that you "Brits" do (now i have to speak from a yank point of _iew lol)....

I think because we live on a "small island" as such then the distance thing is more pronounced......

for example being a new york kid.... i use to consider philadelphia "not that far"... because in the grand scheme of things, in relative terms it isn't...

but that is the same distance as roughly london to birmingham, london to bristol, leeds to liverpool, newcastle to edinburgh... and all of those here would be considered large distances...

i went on hols to italy with a (platonic) m8 a few years back - he fucked off and left me in milan so he could go shagging in vienna for 3 days with sum1 he had spoken to but never met !

doesn't say a lot for my company does it ?

anyway, i got the last laugh

we arranged return flights so i was due back in the UK before him

he gave me his house keys so i could get in and shower etc before i drove back up north

as fate would have it, i met someone on the flight back into luton and ended up in finchley as opposed to biggleswade and the poor soul was locked out for 4/5 hours til i got back

we've travelled 100 miles ish a few times, and even 260 odd on one occasion to the north east ...

and luckily never had a situation where either party has said no, which we put down to swapping of pics and chatting a bit first so you're travelling with the belief all will work (but never travel on the expectation it will happen)
