It was presumably in the budget and as a leader in the world, it is important to lead by example.

What would you prefer op? Us never to help when there is catastrophic disaster etc?

To put that into perspective. Government spending on marketing in 2015 was about £300 million.

I think in comparison what we spend on Overseas Aid is pitiful.
