Roses were OK & preferable to the others around at the time like the inspiral carpets. I know i'm gonna get flak but I prefer them over oasis anyday apart from Wonderwall

Nah, great band. The first album was a revelation - psychedelic, biting lyrics and they looked effortlessly cool too.

I was a musician for years and I'm in awe of the playing on their songs. It's brilliant without being indulgent.

I genuinely think Reni is one of the most gifted musicians rock/pop music has produced, full-stop. Amazing, natural musician. Mani and John Squire are great in their own right too.

Songs like Waterfall and Made of Stone have a hazy lightness and rhythmic feel way beyond most lumpen rock bands.

Fair enough Ian Brown can't sing live and I find him a bit of a toy sometimes, but they are definitely a great band.
