Anyone Ever Tried Huel?

As the title says anyone ever gave it a try, if so would you recommend it?

I'm trying to diet but since I am a really fussy eater I find it really hard.

I was thinking of using it for breakfast and lunch and eating a proper meal for dinner.

Yep i have 2 shakes a day inmy short breaks at work.

The vanila tastes decent and it mixes well (use a screen type shaker not a ball whisk type shaker).

Feel much better on it, if i dont have any for a week definitely notice it.

Same as nearly all Meal replacement shakes.

Fine ground oat powder is the base of nearpy everything.

Great for adding to protien shakes to bring up calories too

If you are capable of replacing food with expensive muck, then you're capable of changing the way you eat. Try dumping carbs, that works (but don't go low fat at the same time).

Its not really muck and it works out pretty damn cheap.

Short of batch cooking as a single person you arent really going to beat it on a per meal basis in cost when it comes to macro and micro nutrients.

And thats comming from somone whos other meals for the day are batch cooked.

Dumping carbs can help for some people but it's very difficult for most especialy to cut them to the level you'll get any significant ketosis.

I'm talking about the willpower to actually drink one instead of eating for someone who is overweight, not a gym goer that wants to change their physique.

Ketosis is not necessary for weight loss but it's far better for your brain and for diabetics like me, 20g or less of carbs a day are bloody easy, I've been doing it for nine years and I'm 8 stones lighter as a side effect.

Millions of diabetics all over the world control their condition fantastically well by not eating many carbs and the cycle of carb craving/eating crap/weight gain is broken.

Yet far more don't manage thier conditon so many in fact they are the single biggest cost to the nhs.

Out stripping cancer and heart disease.

The shakes taste good and are wuick and easy for work lunches.

Henxe why huel is long complex csrbs mixed with good amount if fat snd protien to sloe absorprion even more

Biggest problem with replacing all meals with them is they fill you up so damn much you need a good few hours between shakes

I've ordered the sample to give it a try.

As I said I'm a fussy eater. I have to push myself to eat breakfast and lunch and would normally just have a dinner and a late night snack.

I got a P.T a few months ago and have been working our with him in the gym but although I've got a lot more muscle I've actually put more fat on trying to diet so heul seems perfect for me.

Do you find it does really fill you up as I've read both positive and negative reviews that it's really filling but I've read that about other things thst were rubbish?

Buy the small sample bags I tried it and couldn't stand it.

My protein do a very low calorie meal replacement in a few flavours. They just replaced a low calorie meal replacement with it. I lost stones in months using them 3 times a day then with a proper dinner. Using a calorie counter to work out what my intake should be.

And have some shakes from Purition that you mix with fat free or whatever milk to give more choice.

Yea fills you up a lot id go for it as your breakfast and post work our meal (aprox 1 hour after gym, have a normal whey shake imediatly after gym).

I have my first at 11pm normal meal 1am sexond 4am (night shift)

Originally i tried just having 3 huels for work as figured it was easier than cooking.

Could never get through more than two so seperated with a normal meal.

Low calorie diet 200 - 250 calories a shake. As opposed to lots of calories for the healthy work out folks

Right but that would just mean ypu have a half portion of the normal one.

If you want a low calorie huel you just use 60 grams instead of 120 grams

Yeah but I found huel completely unpalatable, where as I currently have a choice of flavours like salt caramel, strawberry, bannan, real vanilla and chocolate, orange chocolate etc. I can also add a gram or two of glucomannan powder to each shake to make them more filling.

I fully understand how healthy huel is, how adaptable, created by a nutritionalist for world health and a doctor, but when most of its forum is people telling you what they mix it with to make it edible. I'm kinda lazy and I like sweet tasting things.

I'm also a pre prepared salad and sushi slut so I can just read the calories on the packet rather than prep.

Got my sample through today and had it for lunch, wow it doesn't half fill you up.

I really struggled to finish it.

As others have said it's not the nicest tasting product but it's miles better than my protein whey I have to drink.

I'll wait till dinner see if it keeps me full and if so ill order a weeks supply but delighted with the results so far.

Thinks it's trail and error to begin with. I've being playing around with diffrent dinners on myfitnesspal so I think if I pre plan meals then adjust the huel throughout the day to take in the rest of the calories I should be able to lose weight with it. After tonight's dinner I'm going to finish just over 300 calories under my 2000 goal so I need to try eat something else or a few protein shakes later.

Thsts what i do with MFP use it for recipes and rough calcs rather than acrusl tracking.

When i was dieting huel was great because i was usualy so full i skipped the next meal.

Now im trying to add a bit of mass on and im finding that a drawback.

"Why not just proper food ? You know meat veg that kind of thing "

As stated before I'm a fussy bugger. I'm also what's called a taster.

There's not one veg I like and most of them make me sick.

I'm also from the west coast of Scotland, we have some of the world's best food here but also the lowest life expectancy.

I've started doing something with the kids were we all eat a carrot stick before our dinner for a few weeks as constant use is meant to train your taste buds. It's worked well for my daughter and she's going to move to the next veg but both my son and I are still struggling. He's also a taster.

Cause preparing a lot of fresh meals a day can be a hassle.

Even batch cooking and freezing a head gets a lot of work if you're doing it for 3 work place meals a day

Its not really gruel it tastes no differnt to normal breakfast porridge tbh.

Its oats, protien and vits/minerals.

I've made ir into cookies before that where nice

Actually thats an idea might mix if with a small ampunt of nilk and honey, microwave it and have it as porridge
