Feel the fear and do it anyway

3 years ago tomorrow I faced the biggest fear I had and I did a skydive, and boy am I glad I did. was the most beautiful peaceful serene experience I had ever had and would do it again in a heartbeat.

in most cases the thoughts are worse than the reality.

what things have you feared and conquered ? or would love to conquer but don't know how to ?

I'm doing something new and well-outside my comfort zone tonight.

But then I like new experiences. Been told to bring lube...

What's the worst that can happen?

Im not good with heights... Staff of a shop I used to be manager for signed me up for a charity abseil down a building.... Once I stepped off it was so much fun I did it again

I also climb a lot of ladders when I do light focusing and after a while I just went up and down no problem at All... Still can't do really big heights and can't do ferris wheels

I ate live shrimps which were comatosed d*unk in a red wine sauce in China this week. Shells, legs and all. I overcame my fear and found them oddly more-ish.

Had therapy to deal with a fear of others vomiting. Still couldn't deal with an adult but can look after my own children now! Rather than on one memorable occasion driving for an hour to pick up my mum who had a broken wrist to look after my poorly son.

That was the same for me, still does scare me sometimes, but I wouldn't go back to living with my parents or friends for anything!

Public speaking. I'm naturally an introvert so standing in front of a crowd of people and presenting was always a concern.

So I just forced myself to do it including speaking at unconferences.

I can somewhat relate to this. my kids have been brought up knowing that when they are sick they clean it up themselves .. or make it to toilet. and yet now I work in a care home and can stomach most things (but not snot).

Yeah.

It'll either be great fun or a disaster - either way, it'll be a good anecdote.

We've had bucket training! Lol, doesn't always work but I don't sit in the corner in full melt down mode now!

I work with children so pretty used to most stuff, but snot can make me gag at times.

Speaking of which, the first time I ever went to Burning Man - spent 2 years planning, saving to get there and 2 weeks before I was due to fly I got a phone call from my American friend who was in a Paris hospital bed with a collapsed lung. Not going anywhere. Which threw me into a quandary as I don't drive and he had the contacts, tickets and money.

Went on my own... hooked up with this gay guy called Danny from LA, his friend Sean from NY, Sean's 'boys' and a Russian porn star... we stayed with a bunch called Hanumanville who worshiped the Monkey god, took their drumming seriously and had naked yoga workshops going on when we arrived.

My life wasn't the same after that.

I've caught vomit many times and wiped her bum more times that I can remember but fishing bogies out of her nose is worse than cleaning up the animal remains the cat leaves for us

I performed on a stage for the first time in my life in November with the help of many shots of Tequila and got virtually naked infront of 300 people.

It's a bit like childbirth, at the time you swear you'll never do it again....I'm signed up to do it 4 more times this year so far!
