I find people use the term political correctness nowadays when they don't like the fact they have been told something they have done / said is offensive . I don't think pc has got out of hand I think the use of it as a term has

I think it's kinda sad that any speech in opposition to others' free speech is seen as restricting the original speech as opposed to just being a further exercise of free speech.

It reminds me of a South Park episode about tolerance. The point they were making was that tolerance of speech means that I have to tolerate your right to talk, but it doesn't mean I have to agree with what you say. The episode was "The Death Camp of Tolerance"

However, I do think free speech is under assault at US universities. Having said that, it's important to point out that the 1st amendment free speech clause has been found by the Supreme Court as being restricted on college campuses anyway.

I think the line got blurred. Both sides claiming their way is the right way.

A clip from the advert showed a woman saying something like bigots should be shut up. So no free speech, we should all do and say as we are told??

It is pertinent to remember that universities around the world are largely liberal and left-leaning institutions.

I would not be surprised if a right-leaning institution didn't allow me to speak on radical feminism in their spaces. It's not restricting my free speech - it's about knowing which platforms are appropriate for your message. And knowing that freedom of speech doesn't mean that people have to listen to you.

What political correctness? Respect for others, supporting equality etc should be givens but I've yet to find any rule or law that includes political correctness. I think it's a strawman
