I don't get that at all..

I mean I get it if they are there on business anyway and are looking for a cheeky meet but not booking a room in the hope of a speculative meet

I don't get the concept of booking something 1st and then trying to find someone to meet.

Doing it the other way around is much more effective.

You do see it in the meets section so I guess so, we have put a hotel meet up once but we were there for a gig on the Saturday so put a meet up for the Friday, as we don't meet single guys we didn't get much response.

I kinda assumed that people did this when they'd been let down or that they were there for another reason and thought they'd see if they could get a meet in too. I didn't realise people actually booked rooms in the hope of arranging a meet!

I spend most of my life in Hotels. The only people who want to meet are other guys, which I fine flattering, but I'm straight.

Two couples arranged to meet, but never turned up. So little succes for me. But again a single man over 50 have very little chance anyway.

Regarding "one offs" If neither accomodate (don't care about reason) then where would you meet outside of a club?

Clubs are fine but there are time implications and others about which doesn't apply to hotels, only restrictions are the ones you want to impose.

Some do some don't.

I've met someone on a few occasions when they've travelled here for work.

Other times a hotel in town is the mutual 1/2 way point that works for both.

There is something about hotels that can add a touch of excitement to a meet. I have had quite a few successsful meets that way. Had more at my house though after meeting women socially first and getting to know each other. Meets when they have been invited to mone have been a lot better.

I panic if there's too much choice. A nice big good quality pork is never disappointing. If it's chipolata then you need a bit more.

We have and they worked well.

But caution is needed.

Are they going to turn up and the booking is wasted?

What if you get there and you don't like each other / one of you doesn't like the other?

So, they can be great fun, but just try to take steps against the potential pitfalls.
