Going it alone

I've always had the confidence to go, do and see things alone. Nights out, travel, cinema. My life's philosophy used to be ah well if I end up as newspaper clippings at least I lived.

Sounds crazy but now being a mum and realising how other people would be affected by anything I'm much more safe.

I often reflect on the memories I've made and the more colourful stories include being rescued in Australia by a business man and a night out alone ending up having a meal with 2 drag queens.

So. Do you go it alone and what's your colourful story. X

I did 2 weeks alone in California last year, hired a Mustang and just went where I liked, did 4 big nights in Vegas, watched Dolly Parton in Hollywood and a festival in Palm Springs, I had a great time, but I'm quite a social kinda guy and wished the person I asked to come could have made it

In my single days before I met Mrs2 I had a week in Tunisia. Took a 2 day tour round the country while i was there. Ended up riding a camel in the Sahara desert.

I've been happy going it alone 18 months. I'm happy doing my friend stuff and all but it's always good to meet new people. I find having another person a bit needy.

Yes I go places alone, nobody round here wants to do exciting stuff. I live in Stepford you know!!

I went to see a stand up comic by myself the other week and I go on days out by myself and to the cinema.

West Wales

As a twenty something, three years in a row I took myself off to Europe on my motorcycle for the whole summer, rough camped when warm & dry B&B's when not.

I just kept £75 taped under the seat & once I was down to that it was time to head home.

I wouldn't do it now though..

I'm not sure I'd have the confidence to anywhere I've already been alone other than Vegas, i find it such a friendly place that I could easily get chatting etc

A tank of fuel was about £10 and would get me 200miles, not many places over 1000 miles away within Europe & you got on the ferry, not booked for £10, still can sometimes

I still go on the bike, usually classic bike Racing at Spa, LeMan,Etc. Still camp too
