Men and housework...

I'm not well. Haven't been well now for a few days. Housework has got out of control....

My better half is looking after me. He's catching up on the housework 'for me'

I'm so grateful - serous.

But, there's something about his approach to the housework that's disturbing....it was a bit scary when he announced that he was 'going to push the washing machine to its limits'

Is this just my man?...

Lol, I know what you mean. My hubby is 'house trained' and does a great job when I'm at work. BUT it is the way he says 'I've dusted the house top to bottom, not as good as you would do it though', I.e. I've flicked the duster around the places I want to do! lol. Hope you feel better soon

I think I can out-clean most people (any sex).

My mum and nana were both cleaners (private homes and a hotel for my mum).

Many a school holiday was spent helping.

I then joined the Army for 10 years, cleaning is pretty much the number one skill you acquire...

No.

I do the lion's share of housework, inc. hoovering, laundry, cooking, cleaning &c.

It's only 'cos I'm a) housebroken b) have a lot of spare time

I love a man who cooks and cleans.

It's a side effect of growing up with a step-dad who only got up off the sofa to go to work, toilet and bed.

I'm not big on housework, if my husband didn't do it I'd have a cleaner, seems such a waste of life...!

I had a similar thing, I still remember the bewilderment when she told me she'd never used a mop.

Be careful what you wish for . My ex was obsessive about cleaning to the point he once had a go at me because I left the house with out putting the cushions on the sofa back in place . Even the fact there was a taxi waiting outside and I was running late wasn't a valid excuse apparently

I have witnessed someone push a mop bucket around with the mop in it trying to mop the floors

The perils of bring able to work from home

So it's washing, ironing, hoovering, cooking, gardening, diy'ing, and child minding. .....

I was never clever with a feather duster though

Not much has changed now I'm single

My other half is a slob: I'm a clean freak.

I was away for two weeks with friends who tried to get me to not think of the state of the house. He'd send messages along the lines he couldn't see out of the window due to he takeaway boxes. That our cat had learnt mountaineering as she had to climb the mountain of cat litter in her tray as he kept covering instead of cleaning.

When I got home the house was spotless. His cleaning was better than mine! Three years I've been doing all the housework...not any more!

As a good rule of thumb, never live in a house that's too big to clean by yourself

Yh the boss doesn't do any housework unless I'm moaning haha, he does whatever needs doing for the kids but not the house, if I'm poorly for a day it reflects in the house really badly. Drives me mad!

Sometimes I bribe him to chores with the promise of a BJ

They do it on purpose in order to get out of it in future and we let them get away with it. In the end it's easier for us to do it ourselves! It's what they rely on xx

I'm unwell and therefore a tad cynical ... But, I suspect that he's coming from the 'what's the big deal with this housework bollocks' stance.

... Should I be ill for a month?
