Sure this has been mentioned before but when I last looked I thought it only stored info for today. But nope, just looked back through the calendar and it's got me in all sorts of places where I couldn't possibly explain what I was doing there, lol.

Wonder if anyone on here has been caught somewhere they shouldn't have been.

A French man is suing Uber after he logged on his wife's phone and ordered a cab. He then logged off but the app on her phone still showed his journeys and she became suspicious. She then traced the mistress

It "disguises" the permissions by asking if you want in on the ability to improve services and personalise suggestions for you.

Exactly the same with searches and voice requests (saying "OK Google...")

You just have to read the fine print!

Google have the largest mass surveillance system in the world. The deal you make with them for their software is that you can use it for free and in return they learn what you have for breakfast, where you sleep, if you're feeling ill, what keeps you entertained, if you're looking for a new job and so on. They then sell this information other businesses in the form of targeted advertising slots.

I feel it's worth remembering how Google operates every time you go near one of thier offerings. It will track you by default, usually in ways you can't see. That tracking extends to every website that includes the "plus 1" and "share on youtube" buttons, and any site using the Google Analytics service for site hosts (which is most of them, because it's the best and also free).

Sorry for ranting.

Nah, I switch all that shit off. And there's also no reason anyone else would be using my phone to see it anyway.

Or! You could just not cheat on your significant others and then not have to worry about where your phone tracks you to and from. Ergo nothing to explain.

Here occasionally, but mostly somewhere else

If I was married to Google, as opposed to merely enslaved to it, this might be an issue...

You have to be careful on Facebook too. It checks you into nearby places and tells all your Facebook friends.

Okay folks, after flicking through the last year or so of my history, any worry is unfounded. There's so many random inaccuracies, it'll never prove anything if someone asks why you were somewhere you shouldn't have been.

Apparently, this summer I attended three festivals where my phone suddenly disappeared off to three different festival sites halfway through the afternoon without me, a stadium gig while my phone was at the stadium the band played at two weeks before (In Germany?) and an afternoon at Bristol Gardens when 30 mins after I arrived my phone left my locker to go to Lingfield for 2 hours. The first two you can put down to connected info, but the last one?
