Went for a mammogram today, I'm sure the nurse was enjoying dishing out the pain! I know it's for our own good, but my boobs just won't squash flat lol

Any one else found the procedure really painful?

My wife was as hard as nails but she hated the mammogram.

But please do not let that put any woman off going.

Didn't bother me, I have a very high pain threshold anyway.

When i went for my first ever mammogram i was told that i had breast cancer and had to have a mastectomy so if i had missed my mammogram i would not be here now so it is worth the pain.

SO DON'T MISS YOUR MAMMOGRAM WHEN THEY SEND FOR YOU.

Smear is every 3 yrs age 25-49yrs, then every 5yrs age 50-64. In my area anyways.

Have no idea about mammography - never been contacted about one

Neither become compulsory, for breast screening you will receive and invite around the age of 50.....I've had smear test invites for years can't remember when they started, but I always attend when invited...

not as painfull as it would be if you left it too late and had to undergo a masectomy.

manchester

I've been having them yearly ever since I was 35.

Whilst they are uncomfortable, I always look on it as 10 minutes faffing and pinching for a whole year of peace of mind.

From what I understand, they can detect breast cancer up to 18 months before a lump can be found by touch.

Don't anyone ever put off having one for fear of embarassment or pinching. They are worth their weight in gold ..

Its even worse when they have to take a needle biopsie they took 12 from me, was not pleasant at all, but made the discomfort of the mammogram seem like nothing at all

I've had the needle biopsy, not nice at all but luckily it came out all clear.

Don't know if it's coz I have little boobs but ouch when they're doing the mammogram, but if it needs to be done (which it did coz I had a lump) then it needs to be done. The piece of mind afterwards (when all clear) is priceless.

Had a mammagram at 40 due to cancer being rife with the ladies in the family , especially breast cancer. Had a gene test and now need tests every year

But as others have said, ALWAYS go and have it done...

One boob always hurts when having it done and the other doesnt....strange

Tut GK,.

get yourself along. it doesnt hurt but is uncomfortable due to the way they have to xray the breast ...and its over very quickly.

Honest

I'm not brave and I'm not good with getting poked about but I didn't find it painful in the least. My friend was the same. DON'T MISS THE OPPORTUNITY TO GET CHECKED- you might not feel it sore at all
