If you've blocked someone (but they don't know) can they still "quote" you on threads etc? And vice versa?

Yes. But I think you can report them if they become stalkerish and use the forum to pester or anuse you etc.

Yes. As long as they don't ask about or mention the block it's fine. Or deliberately be a dick towards you on all your posts.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

I find the easiest way to deal with discovering I have been blocked or if I have blocked someone is to ignore all their posts (don't reply, quote etc.) and never post on a thread they have started.

It just avoids the whole issue of getting into a conversation, albeit at the removed stage of posting.

This. Sometimes I've posted and quoted and haven't realised they've blocked me because I've been blocked due to forum comments (I assume) and haven't looked at their profile or attempted to message to know I've been blocked. But the moment I realise I just avoid them.

Sound like you take the blocking personally if you do that. l've actually had decent conversations on different topics with people l've blocked and probably blocked me too.

I find it amusing when someone blocks because of forum comments, when the one thing it doesn't block is future forum comments!

One of the mods clarified recently that it's not against forum rules to reply or quote to blocked people. Can't remember the exact rules quoted.

Yes, I understand it's fine as long as it's being used as a way to get in touch, get around a block or be abusive. The last point is often the bit that can be a little more difficult to unpick as I have found some to be subtle in their abuse. It's easier to ignore them.

If someone wants to block they can block me.

Just don't expect me to give a fuck though.

To the OP, if someone hassles you on the forums ignore them, the absolute TOP thing that drives people to insanity is being ignored.

It drives people nuts.

Maybe someone could suggest a new feature for the forums whereby if a poster is in your block list it puts a little red 'B' next to their username on their posts?

Or if you hit reply to one of their posts it could pop up a warning (like it does on the email).

Or Facebook style, you can't see anything they have posted/replied.

Problem there is that for some people the forums would come up blank!

That may make reading a thread a little strange, especially if you're on lots of blocks lists.

I like this as it would stop me from inadvertently replying to someone (as I did above) only to discover I am blocked.

It isn't no. Most people wouldn't even know they were blocked from someone anyway.

The rule is more asking them to unblock you

The best ones are the ones (usually couples) who message you an expletive laden rant about a comment you've made then block you before you can respond.

Hmmm..yeah...makes sense.

There is only regular forumite that I'm aware of that we are mutually blocked from each other, I just ignore his/their threads - helps that they are so predictable so it's highly unlikely that I'll even post by accident

Yes. I've had people 'follow' me around from thread to thread, even though they have blocked me. Some people do keep me entertained.
