"Our last one off gumtree. Don't buy a french automatic. Gearboxes are terrible. Might be worth looking and Japanese models." Don't buy French at all, bad reliability and expensive to fix. Japanese and Korean males are good for reliability, as are Skoda and Seat (VW's with a different badge basically)

"Our last one off gumtree. Don't buy a french automatic. Gearboxes are terrible. Might be worth looking and Japanese models." I drive an auto and when i was looking for a car i was advised by 3 motor mechanics to look for a ford or a Japanese model. Apparently they have far fewer gearbox issues and are generally more reliable and cheaper to fix if something does go wrong. My first car was a Mercedes A140 auto. I did about 100 miles in it before the gearbox went. It wasn't economical to repair so it ended up at the scrapyard . After that I got a cheap focus and it's great.

"if buying after april 1st and buying new be mindfull of the new taxation class for vehicles registered on and after this date as there are some very hefty tax increases coming in that wil truly shock you " Well we will be buying a second hand vehicle anyway and before April 1St From what I can make out the lexus is currently at zero tax and it will remain so unless it's a new car registered after April 1St. All these super low emissions car's that manufacturers have poured millions into developing will soon be very undesirable given how much the tax changes are going to be. Once again the government has found another way to fuck us over!

"So now we have finally narrowed the search down to one car. A lexus ct 200 hybrid All the research seems to be coming back very positive, reliability, economical, looks, build quality is right up there with the best of them. But our first hybrid car. Guess as long as it's got a full lexus history, reasonable miles and hpi clear we should be ok? " Look for very low mileage....hybid cars suffer battery problem when they reach 100k so it will depreciate like crazy
