Clueless becaue I have no associated memory with that film. Nothing shit or bad happened in my life the time that it was released and when I've watched it it's always been when I'm in a good mood!

I have a highky superior autobiographical memory and every film and song every event that I've witnessed or read about during my time on this earth will have an attached memory to what was going on at the time. Clueless and Outkasts hey ya song are things that have no memory linked to them other than chill and happy times.

I like films based on true life, like Erin Brockovich.

But I have a big soft spot for Zulu too, and I think the Green Mile is an awesome film.

Saving Private Ryan is a fantastic film too.

Caddyshack is also on my list of top ten films.

Erm....I can't pick one film, there are loads of fantastic ones out there lol.

King is cleverer than Crichton but both can be formulaic

What makes a classic?

Ben Hur, Spartacus, Casablanca, the African queen, Sound of music, Wizard of Oz, etc...

They are all great classic movies of a time,great movies that have stood the test of time but probably not your favourite films.

Modern classics such as Pulp fiction, Ferris Buellers day off, the Shining, Cry freedom, and so on..

Shawshank Redemption has gotta be in that modern classic list..

In 50 years that'll still be shown on TV or whatever we have then..

Not my fave though, for me it's gotta be the hurt locker, such a gripping film.

That's an interesting observation, personally I don't think Shawshank will stand the test of time, the story is great but it's not repeatable enough.

Like everything it probably comes down to the observer rather than observed

I know this thread will prove me wrong very quickly. But I've never heard anyone say they dislike Mary Poppins. It's just such a good film that was way ahead of its time with such a wide appeal.

My personal favourite is Song Of the Sea because of the way that I watched it and who I watched it with and what it meant to both of us.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels! Seen it countless times, never get bored with it. Great film.

Enter The Dragon is the film I've seen the most often and is right up there. Might go with The Royal Tenenbaums as my all time favourite though.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels! Seen it countless times, never get bored with it. Great film.

Finally! I had to scroll so far down the thread to find Schindlers List mentioned. It is, hands down, THE best film ever. Moving, powerful, a true masterpiece. End of discussion. Boom!

My favourite film of all time used to be Star Wars Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back.

Widely regarded as the best of all the Star Wars films.

That is until I saw Rogue One and was completely blown away by it.

Wow. A film I'd been waiting 39 years for, without even realising that it was a film I wanted to see made.

What a film. Can't wait for the Blu-Ray
