woke up this morning to a friend request on facebook from someone off fab, was a little freaked out i don't mix my private life with my fab life, obviously he hasn't read my profile

A step or ten too far! I've had someone find me there only knowing my first name and my town. I promptly changed it to London (I'm Greater London, so not that different but enough to put off the stalkers--shudder).

Never had or sent a friend request but have had people pop up in the 'people you may know' section of facebook, I just ignore it though.

Definitely a step too far sending the request.

People can easily find you if you have your phone number linked to Facebook. Which then links to Instagram which links to twitter....you get the idea.

This is why we use kik rather than whatsapp

I've deleted my Facebook because I'm fed up of people finding me. Yes I show my face in my fab pics but some people seam to have no boundaries. Plus it's very intrusive I just don't trust it anymore. Xxx

this is definitely the cause of associated requests on FB..

all you need to do is delete your phone number off your FB account then they can't link you to any other site...

and it really pisses their admin off as well

you can turn it off but there is an option to find your fb friends using whatsapp and this shows a link to your fb. same on skype as well.

Am not on whatsapp or skype and my FB is pretty much on lock down as well as not being in my real name, so should hopefully be OK.

Even the OH moans he can't see much of it.

Am sure if someone wanted to find someone enough though they could find a way

FB now own whats app, so if you have that too it links everything up..

Somebody from Fab pointed out how easily people can find people with few details.

I trust the people I've met. Otherwise I wouldn't meet them.

the less information you give out. The more you prefect yourself from this type of stuff.

Even as adults, sometimes we need an eye opener to see how scary some situations can be.

yeah they can, if they really wanted to.

mine isn't my real name now because i was selling stuff and a client found my fb using my paypal account and the name there. anyone can find anything they want to unfortunately.
