So there's been a few posts today about coffins and funeral plans ect, all seems very morbid

If you knew that your time is up pretty soon would you have a pre funeral party?

If yes what would it be like?

Not as such, but I would like to go away somewhere beautiful, hot and sunny with my closest friends and family. Probably a Sanctuary at Jade Mountain in St Lucia. Lots of eating, drinking and laughing together. Just feeling loved.

"a continuous loop of "Always look on the bright side of life""

But would you have a party? Invite all those relatives that you never knew existed

I'd only invite people I know, otherwise the one's that I don't know wouldn't care about me and would only arrive for the free buffet

"Live Forever by OASIS"

So that's your music... but would you have a party? So you could say goodbye to everyone before you popped your clogs

If I did I wouldn't let it be known that was the reason, dread the thought of pitying looks and words. All that shite and the slagging off can come when I don't have to hear or see it.

Oh Pooch and I would go and sit on our favorite hill. Watch the sunset with a rather classy bottle of shiraz

Oh no, imagine if no one came and you died knowing not many people liked you.

nothing is certain except death and taxes...

equally as morbid as a pre funeral party...

The party doesn't have to be morbid, it could be a celebration!

Glastonbury

A couple of years ago I picked up the post one afternoon and found a letter, in handwriting I recognised from a university friend.

I was shocked to find it was a hand-written invite to his funeral. He'd died two weeks earlier and I didn't even know he was sick.

We went to the funeral in south London and it was one of the most life-affirming experiences I've had.

I'd lost a long-term friend. We'd had a particular relationship, in some way he was the father I never had - and yet the turn out, the mix, the wash of people who had known him in capacities I didn't even appreciate, was staggering.

As funerals go, it was a good one

I dunno if this is morbid, but I'm always adding to or subtracting from my mental funeral playlist....

Not at all, I always do it but as there's so many different songs that bring so many different memories from parts of my life I'm going to do a mix of my favourite songs to be played throughout the service and piss up afterwards.

For instance a song called I found lovin always reminds me and lifelong friends of nights out getting pissed at the local club, Living next door to Alice reminds me of family parties with my late fav pissed up uncle singing it at the top of his voice with the added words not songs probably poignant as the curtain comes down but would raise a smile to those involved in my life if heard.

A warehouse with only one entrance upon entering the warehouse everyone gets a taser they then get 10 minutes to prepare after the last person arrives. Each person must take up position in a different area of the warehouse and the a buzzer sounds and it's a mad scramble last man/woman standing gets all my stuff, I think that would be the best pre funeral party.

Grantham

I would and it would be fantastic

My second best friend in the whole wide world died last year but she had planned her funeral.

Which in some ways made it worse because I knew how she'd been thinking. But then again it made it better because I knew it was her doing
