Dress to Impress

Am I the only person this term strikes fear into the heart of?

Who am I supposed to be impressing? I'm sure their idea of impressive is poles apart from mine. Stockings and short skirts are my idea of hell.

Argh I'm not cut out for this girlie shit

Dress to impress yourself .

As a slight aside my mum who is very elderly disapproves of most of my clothes but found a dress I wore the other day to be to her taste. It went straight in the charity bag when I got home. . It's not always a good idea to dress to impress other people

You are not alone! I always feel like a right muppet wearing stuff like that, not comfortable and not sexy!

I'm not a fan of skirts particularly, my arse looks much better in a tight pair of jeans.

I can't walk far in heels, converse or DMs far more comfortable.

And there is no way I'm 'dressing' for some guy I've only met once!

"Dress to impress yourself .

"

Totally agree.

If I don't feel comfortable in what I'm wearing I turn into even more of a gibbering mess than I usually am, which I'm sure would override any advantage gained by turning up dressed to suit someone else's specifications.

Ok so let's start with, what are you dressing to impress for? So vanilla, fab, meet, club, party? You can dress up and look funky and sexy without it being the perfect pencil skirt and frilly blouse Mrs blue eyes

I like girls that can own the look by what they wear.

I love a lady looking classy. I love it when a girl looks like a girly girl.

I love a woman in rock gear. It's not what you wear it's how you wear it.

I know what you mean OP!

I can't walk in heels and I feel like an imposter dressed up!

But like the others said it depends on who you're impressing.

You're hot so you would look good in just a t shirt and bare feet

I'll move on swiftly from anyone who writes that or anything similar on a profile.

I dress for comfort and I have no style.

I wore trouser suits for work or smart trousers and a blouse in winter, and dress down cotton clothes in Summer, as we didn't have a strict dress code.

Dress to impress on here has usually meant a short, tight skirt, heels and stockings and a top with tits poking out the top. That would look ridiculous on me.

I haven't worn a skirt or dress for years, without leggings underneath; I don't have the figure for them.

Does it for me. Day to day. Seeing a lady's shaped arse in a pair of well fitted jeans little to the imagination

You're definitely not alone there. I'll avoid a profile that has that line, or I'll completely lose interest in a guy if they tell me what they'd like me to wear.

I'll wear what I want, if they don't like it they can lump it!

If I'm impressed with the way I look, it means I've dressed well for the occasion in question (I've got a cool style and dress sense), be it a DnB rave, work meal out or smart casual first date.

.

Just dress how you want. I don't think anyone will really care if you're without stockings or a short skirt.

I think it means put some effort in if it's a social - not a stained, old dress but something you'd wear to 'impress' another you were interested in.

Ah well in which case your home and dry, your pics are sexy and funky and I love your unicorn t-shirt, I'm being truly honest when I say ' you'll impress them just being you' and to me a fab social is about nothing other than just being you, so go with your sexiest jeans and your unicorn t-shirt and I reckon you've cracked it good luck and have fun Mrs blue eyes

If someone asked me if i would "dress to impress" i would know that any meet with them would be awful and i would simply say "no" and block them. I dress how i want and short skirts and heels are not my choice ever, it's not a look i like. I do always wear nice underwear though but thats cus I like them plus hubby appreciates it

Years ago a guy i had met a few times and who had never showed any interest in what i wore as we always got naked asap, asked me if i had a body stocking to wear... it would look like a whale caught in a fishing net if i wore one and i hate the look anyway ... never met him again lol.

Onesies are sexy cause i always think whats under them then you open them up & bang there it is naked or underwear.

I have always taken that phrase to imply lingerie of the more complex kind! I would never say no to that, but it all comes off soon enough anyway, one hopes. Some women hate all that, especially those with a fuller figure, but some love to dress up...it all depends on the person. One woman I know does it to feel sexy and she insists on calling it 'slutting up'...! Anyway, men should never make demands like that...after all what do we wear? Clean boxers at best. And the cost of all that lacy frippery stuff!

I no longer dress to impress..

I don't really see why I should wear all the gear (sexy lingerie, stockings and heels) if my meet is going to turn up in a tatty t shirt and jeans sagging halfway down his arse

Anyone who suggests that I need to 'dress to impress' is unlikely to be happy with my uniform of choice - jeans and a hoodie.

If you're going to impress anyone then impress your self.

I love my clothes but would never wear something just to please someone else, as they need to like you for who you are not who they want you to be.

I know I might have a different perspective from you fabulous ladies but I think the principle is still the same x

I make an effort and I'm more likely to be attracted to women who make an effort.

All women on Fab get attention, away from Fab in the real world it's those that make an effort who are most likely to be approached. That's just the truth of it.

For me it has little to do with specifics like stockings or suspenders.

I make an effort when we meet guys. I make an effort every day in fact. I always bath, most days shave, moisturise, wash hair, bit of make up and nice clothes (except when I'm in work uniform).I just don't wear the items that guys generally mean when they ask if I'm going to 'dress to impress' eg. heels, suspenders, stocking and short skirt etc as i don't like them but i do make an effort

I wear whatever I feel comfortable in because then I don't feel self concious and of course a smile.

A smile and confidence out weigh stockings and short skirts

I get to lower my interest level when demands are made upon my attire. I dress for myself and can't always predict my mood and needs in advance.

If men had to adorn themselves in sex uniforms and makeup I think expectations from them would change.

I can do the girlie shit if and when *I* feel like it, but ONLY if I feel it's not about that anyway - I am only interested in meeting guys who really want to meet the real me! Funnily enough, I've had more comments about the dungarees when I first put that pic up that any other garment!
