a quandary, could you change my mind?

I need a routine that way the normal can be broken on a regular basis. 'A change is as good as a rest'

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

I'm happy with my routine as long as I can let my hair down from time to time.

My life revolves around

routine. Every working hour up until April is booked. That is slowly getting booked.

My everyday life is routine, like I imagine a lot of people's lives are who work and have children.

However, when it comes to my freetime I don't have set routine.

I really need routine. I can't cope with spontaneity or not being able to plan, it makes me incredibly uneasy.

We have no routine what so ever.

Everything we do from what we get up to on a day to day basis, what meals we have etc

It's all made up on the day.

Wish we could plan a bit more to be honest

You're very fortunate if you don't have work. I'd love to do whatever I wanted each day.

Traffic land

I'd never have said it was that important, but this morning I did things a bit differently and ended up leaving the house without my glasses (just dressed in the bathroom rather than my bedroom). Not good!

Part of your 5 a day

I have a routine but my timings have no room for contingencies so I'm always changing it. Can be very spontaneous given the right motive

I need it for my children, particularly my youngest who has Dyspraxia and routine is important to him.

Also, i'm not very organised as a person so a routine stops me from feeling overwhelmed and a bit more on top of things

"It has it's place"

Plans and routines are, per se, good ideas.

BUT, as Napoleon said, "If half your plans come off in battle, count it a success."

Flexibility is key, too.

We do both work, but it's just as none routine as everything else. Mrsdpts shifts are just made up every two weeks which just adds to the chaos the days change every week.

The joys of both working unsocial jobs I suppose

I have to have routine because I need to be organised for kids / work.

By nature though I'm a wing it person, which sometimes works well & at times doesn't.

Never understood this phrase as I've always heard it from people who love routine. I have always taken it as 'change is a good thing' like rest is, but obviously not? How is rest not good?

Honest question.

Routines are part and parcel of my life, I've gotten so used to them I do things without thinking now, have to with 2 autistic sons.

But I like the times I get to be spontaneous for myself.

I have a routine for work days although it varies depending on what shift i work. Once home its the usual routine of housework, cooking etc.

Days off have no set routine though.

It means that a change does you good, the same as a rest does you good. That's how I take it anyway.

I hate routine but family and work dictate that I must have it. I also hate being tied to plans especially when it involves other people's versions of events. I don't like having to do something just because it's time to.

"How much do you need it in your life ?"

Not at all I don't like being told what to do! I feel like a routine is someone telling me what to do and I rebel against it

In work there is no routine

Every days is as diverse and manic as the next

The only routine we really have is with the dog. I think its important for them and like how they get used to it.

So, for example, he knows after play in the morning, I go and brush my teeth and he goes and sits in his bed and waits for his dental chew.
