Got a van, got stuff to put in it... best advice I can give is start by opening the doors

Seriously though start with pen and paper and lots of pictures of interiors you like, then put the services in first.

"Has it got a taco ??? "

Wouldn't need one even if it's the larger version of the vehicle as it won't be for hire or reward.

As for building I would start with routing plumbing and electrics cutting windows and vents then insulation before boarding much easier than trying to do it all after you have put boarding and insulation in

Good look well worth it when it's finished

An LDV... that was your first mistake. Having driven the predecessor the Sherpa over several years for more miles than I care to recall and a few LDV's over not so many miles I know they must be close to the worst thing on the road. They didn't go bust for nothing.

Still I'm sure you will have hours and hours of fun at the road side. Good job you are converting it to a camper. Good luck.

LDV dont have a good rep to be fair.

Elecs plumbing windows and gas then insulation you will need it insulating it will either be too hot or too cold lol. I did watch a video on youtube very recently of someone converting a van, it was wicked !! Lpg will need a gas proof box and a drain hole to the outside in case of leaks.

Dont forget a carbon monoxide detector and get one rated for vehicles.....not all are they are built more robustly to cope with vibration. (Anything with a naked flame produces carbon monoxide)

Have fun

drill holes in the floor for the water tanks etc if fitting them ,then put in a false floor so its even ,and build up from there ,don't forget plenty of insulation between the panels

a quandary, could you change my mind?

"

Layout layout layout..

Really confirm which layout is best for you all. If you are unsure spend the day at your local used/new camper sales it will give you lots of ideas.

(beds that are where you sit are a pain to make up if you move around a lot, but fixed beds take up lots of usable day / evening space)

Loads on YouTube and just Google, lots of advice, I've seen one or two books too.

Good luck with your searching and build

Honestly, no need to reply with a thanks at all! I can imagine the effort it would take to write those 6 letters when you are stuck on ideas and someone has taken the time to bother writing you a shit tone of them. Fab.

Just finished a t5. Can't wait to get out in it this year. I made the mistake of getting a cowboy to start it. Ended up redoing the electrics myself. As for the rest it was all pretty straightforward. Make a list of everything you want to fit and a map of where it's going.

Sell the maxus and buy something else. They have the old merc sprinter engines which is a HUGE bonus. But the amount of maxus (is the plural maxii?) With shot rear axles and cv joints going pop is ridiculous.

Not a bad idea!

I'm just getting my units in next week and have plumped for none of the sink / cooker/ fridge costs as I'd rather cook outside... and a good coolbox means the beers are closer to you when sitting out side.

[ridiculously sexy photos you two btw... ]
