Hi all. If you met a much younger man or women and you got on great, how would you deal with family like grown-up children who might not like it if you got together with the younger person?

Depends on whether it would mean them being cut out of your will

It's not going to happen! But basically I'd tell them to get over themselves if they had a problem with it. They know me well enough to know how I would react xx

Most will tell you it won't work

Others will pat you on the back and say 'good on ya'

Overall though, I think most will want you to be happy and most will be there for you if it goes tits up (even if that does come with a 'told you so'

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

I have been that grown up child. I just wished my father well and hoped she would look after him in his dotage. She wasn't much older than me but she is the one to have died and he is alone now.

Enjoy whatever you have, when you have it.

If I bought a older woman home to meet my family ..... my mother and family would not make her feel welcomed in any way.... they are very religious Jamaican people

My wife was 9 years older than me (27 & 36, when we met).

Because of her family situation, there was a generation gap with the in-laws (her sister is my mum's age and her mum was my grandmother's age).

We kept it quiet at first (actually the first year!) because we wanted to see if it would work, without being judged.

Eventually, I did get a lot of silly 'toy boy' comments but we were together 24 years.

I got grief off my Dad's wife about having a friend 18 years younger.

So when I was actually seeing someone 19 years younger I kept it quiet.

If it happened again I would keep it quiet unless it turned into a real relationship and then they would have to go and you know what

I don't think I could date someone who's more than 3 years younger than me, even if they were very mature 4 years would be the cut off point.

My children would be gobsmacked that after 30 years alone, I'd finally found someone! His age would be of no consequence.

My hubby is ten years younger than me. We met while swinging. Neither were looking for anything long term but we fell in love. Everyone has been fine about our age gap (to our faces) only his daughter made a comment about the age gap. My friends and family say how happy i am now. We have a great life together, supporting and loving each other

I've had a relationship with someone 13 years younger. None of my family even commented on the age difference.

wife is 8 years older than me, no one in my family said anything.

only in her country they dont hugely approve of it as normally older guy with younger girl, not young guy with older girl

Both my parents remarried after their divorce to people not much older than I am. I had no issue with it as long as they were both happy. I did enjoy calling my stepdad 'dad' in the pub in front of his mates since their reactions were hilarious.

My mum was 10 yrs older than my dad. It was never a problem for them, me or my siblings.

I'm five yrs older than my ex.

Not relationships as such but I've had fun with the daughter of a fab friend from here. We are all still good friends...popped in to see the friend (mother) on Thursday....daughter was there so I told her to make me a brew......it only causes problems if you let it!

family get told if they dont like it im kinda not bothered about it.

my ex was 10 years younger than I am but has made no difference to me.

with teenagers I usually get told to shut up or slapped or the other one is she will do for you.

if im looking at a lady though I dont hide it, as im single anyway
