The deceptively cuddly term describes the act of leading someone on by contacting them intermittently – be that by phone or social media – to keep them interested.

Mainly on dating sites but I think it's common here too.

To stroke their ego, when the one feeding on the breadcrumbs is still interested despite the breadcrumbers lack of real interest.

Kinda but then the internet seems to be quite an ephemeral thing sometimes - you can be living in someone's virtual pocket for a few months and then - poof! - a routine is broken and you never quite recover the pace.

A handful of people I've met on social media have survived for years in us contacting one another but in general I find it quite transient.

People are here one day and gone the next.

Or maybe that's just me.

We have intermittent contact with a few and had a few repeat meets... I view that as NSA to a degree. Also people fab differently so some who are on forum's regularly would be in contact more than those that don't.

Have had a few that have petered off for whatever reasons. We can't get away regularly so require patience from others with regards to interest.

I'm here to meet lasses that want to meet me as much as I want to meet them.

I don't have the time nor inclination for conversations via message where it's like getting blood from a stone/pulling teeth.

It's pretty easy to determine if someone is interested in meeting or if they wanna try to get you to jump through hoops or are just bored n fishing for compliments.

These breadcrumbers wouldn't get much sport out of me!

I totally do this, but it's not with malicious intent. There are people I've met with gaps in between of a year or so because we weren't in the same place at the same time. How precisely would that work without a bit of this breadcrumbing in the interim?

Exactly. Saying hello occasionally to people you may have an interest in, whether or not you've already met them doesn't mean you're leading them on with no intention of meeting them. Especially if they already know your schedule is crazy.

I agree.

I'm one big breadcrumb then because my busy life doesn't allow me to be much else.

I'd say the majority of men I meet appear to be juggling a similar schedule to mine so we move between breadcrumbs & meet who is free at any given time. No biggie imo.

I have many like this....I like to keep myself fresh in their mind just in case the planets align and everything clicks into place for a meet. ..

Not heard of the term and I don't need virtual interest to help me. There's generally an over-abundance of people and interest than I can manage. I'm usually a slow meeter, not by way of breadcrumbs, it's just the way my life is and what works well

I always thought of it as generic term on social media where any thread you post to gets listed on friends walls. They then look at what you breadcrumbed as you obviously thought they would be interested in it.

It's the 'coming on really strong types and then blocking you for no good reason other than they have run out of excuses for not meeting you' types that annoy the most.

If you have no intention of meeting, then just say, I'll happily leave you alone.
