Yesterday I finished 'The Noise of Time' by Julian Barnes.

I've just started This is London by Ben Judah - it's reportage, he describes the way various recent migrants experience the city differently, what brought them there, their hopes, frustrations, fears, disappointments. So far, it's eye opening, fascinating and sometimes extremely sad. It's an aspect of London many of us are only vaguely aware of and probably don't apply too much thought to usually.

And I'm dipping into The Railways: Nation, Network and People by Simon Bradley, haven't read it properly yet but it seems to be the sort of social history I love.
