This always really worries me. A ridiculous amount of people die from air pollution annually.

London and France

London will have to grasp the nettle and do something real about pollution.

Other cities are taking measures;

It needs to severely restrict traffic.

Restrictions on traffic unless it has more stringently applied clean air testing;

Restrictions on old and polluting vehicles;

The ability to have " alternate traffic" days (only vehicles with odd registration numbers may drive on odd dates, evens on evens etc.

It needs long term investment in controlling vehicles and offering clean transport alternatives

The amount of diesel vehicles are just insane.

Completely agree with this. We seem to be one of the last cities to take these measures!

Yes I reckon they did that too, you can feel it in the air, as you cough more.

Actually it's not really about age but fuel.

Diesels are not good at all for cities

you should write to VW!

they want old cars off the road and more people buying new fuel efficient pollution free cars!

At least the pollution is being cut, they are doing the best by not allowing flights!

I wouldn't swear to it but I'm pretty sure Kathmandu is last or second to last.

It's basically deadly or about as toxic as smoking but every breath.... It's really hard to stub that one out!.

.

Ah well at least they'll fair better when the great flood comes in a few decades and that should wipe most of London and the west so they can claim parity

Please do not encourage more Londoners to move northwards. Whilst I have nothing against them personally, they have a tendency to inadvertently bump up house prices. They sell their dog kennel in London, move north, buy a six bed mansion with paddock and room for a pony, and have change left in the bank. It stops first-time buyers from being able to get on the property ladder up here.

Central

Thousands of deaths every year from it but you'd not guess from the lack of government action - unless it's something that they don't care about. At least Europe has had standards and enforcement for such dangerous measures.

The problem is not about standards, the standards and goals are set. It's just that because they're so drastically in achievable then no one gives a rats arse about trying.

Too much talking about standards and not enough action taken in my opinion.

Wouldn'y wanna live in London anyway!
