Hi, question for the ladies.

If you were getting Valentines day flowers from an admirer, would you find a big showy bunch of red roses or one single rose more romantic?

Single rose.. but then I'm more sentimental than materialistic so I would say that!

no matter

I would be very happy with a single flower not necessarily a rose.

I feel it is all such a money making deal.

I'm not a fan of flowers on Valentine's day - I always just think about how much the guys are getting ripped off.

But if I had to choose, my favorite roses are orange or green and I think it's nice to just get a few, not a whole dozen. There's something so cliche about a dozen red roses....

They hike the prices up so I wouldn't expect them but if money is no issue, a dozen would be lovely

This! Used to work in a florist... red roses are over priced on Valentines.

A bouquet of something else is the smart move to avoid cliche but still scream romance. Depends on the impression you're trying to create OP.

Valentines Day was my favourite day to do deliveries. I used to take the day off my real job to do it. Women may be complex, you will never understand us but you will be hard pushed to fail if you send a woman flowers of any description on Valentine's Day!

I often get flowers from my boyfriend (lucky me)

But for valentines it would be nice to get large, single rose.

Bedworth

With four naughty cats who like to eat flowers we avoid bringing temptation into the house.

We celebrate Valentine's Day by doing the same things we do every single day.........making dinner together, relaxing in our hot tub and cuddling on the sofa before going to bed and falling asleep in each other's arms

Depends on the dynamic, if it's someone wanting to absolutely melt my heart, then he's picked me some wild flowers - I'm a sucker for effort in romantic gestures.

I'm pretty sure Morrisons had a dozen red roses for £10 last year. Maybe. Not that I'd buy them and peel the stickers off so they didn't know where they were from

A world of my own

Flowers die.

Write me a note. It doesn't have to be romantic poetry, or war and peace. Just something that someone has taken 5 minutes to handwrite would mean so much more to me.

One or two roses would be lovely - it doesn't need to be a large bunch of flowers to delight me. But I do love flowers, as well as plants in general.

I like a mixed bunch. Roses are lovely but too overpriced and some I've had have not lasted long at all. Waste of money.

I'd prefer a potted orchid as it lasts a few months.

Wow! So many differing opinions.Seems its gonna cost me a fortune sending all the lovely ladies on here, their hearts desire lol.

I like the idea of picking wild flowers, but not the most practical for early February!

The question was mainly rhetorical, as the young lady in question would be embarrassed by either option. I know that a guy a couple of years ago bought her a big OTT bunch and she hated it, which is why I thought a single flower would be classy, even though she'd probably prefer a bottle of vodka anyway
