From Chazz Palmentieri's "A Bronx Tale":

"Alright, listen to me. You pull up right where she lives, right? Before you get outta the car, you lock both doors. Then, get outta the car, you walk over to her. You bring her over to the car. Dig out the key, put it in the lock and open the door for her. Then you let her get in. Then you close the door. Then you walk around the back of the car and look through the rear window. If she doesn't reach over and lift up that button so that you can get in: dump her."

"Just like that?"

"Listen to me, kid. If she doesn't reach over and lift up that button so that you can get in, that means she's a selfish broad and all you're seeing is the tip of the iceberg. You dump her and you dump her fast."

Wouldn't work now with central locking, good film though. My test is if she doesn't kiss on the 1st date I dump because the attraction must be there enough. Also if they just look at me when the bill comes and don't even offer to pay half etc.

If she leans over, inadvertently knocks the handbrake off whilst doing so; causing a collision with a parked car, then her makeup is intact even after the passenger airbag deploys. Then yes I'm keeping her. Except she's paying my excess!

Great movie!

No one I knew ever wanted me touching their locks because they were automatic. So......what happens in the era of automatic locks? I think we need a new test.

I hear ya!

I always thought this was the most bizarre test, even when the heroine does reach over it looks totally strained and unnatural. I've never ever seen anybody reach across to open from the inside - apart from drivers/keyholders who got in first!
