I think you're spot on. Many just like the chat and build up but have no intentions of actually meeting That really bugs me as frankly I wouldn't bother chatting if I knew. One guy I gave a chance as he was new to the site. I turned up at the address he gave me and he didn't live there. Didn't answer messages either

I think that I've disappointed approximately 75% of the men I've met. I'm alright with that ratio, tbh, it's not really my fault if they've built me up in their heads beforehand.

Oh absolutely. Which is why I'm ok with the looks of crushing disappointment and non comittal texts afterwards because the build up was the main bit I like too

It's impossible to live up to the hype if they've placed you on a pedestal. I always get nervous if someone appears overly keen for that very reason

It was NO way connected with ANY of the awesome guys who have verified me.

((I may well have been let down, and stood up on numerous other occasions by plenty of others! And that is the truth...)) This is not a name and shame thread! I wouldn't do that! Just somewhere to blow off some steam and have a rant IF you have been let down in any way.

You know...those times when a meet is on the cards, almost arranged, you've bothered to shower, do your hair and makeup, and make an effort only to get a text saying....sorry I cant meet now for *insert reason here*!

Last year I actually hired an apartment via Airbnb for a very special meet, with someone I had met before a while back. I had the wine opened, food in the oven, music...all was well with the world. An hour after the intended time, I got a text...she was having difficulty parking...I rushed outside, and her car sped past without stopping. A little later she texted me saying that she had changed her mind about seeing me again. Extraordinary behaviour for a mature woman in a well-paid , responsible job, with whom I had been messaging for a few months prior. I am still baffled.

I was let down recently by a couple. We'd been talking to for a while and we arranged to meet for a social at a bar of their choice near Knightsbridge.

We never exchanged numbers but had been keeping in touch using Kik.

So up until when I left home and whilst on route from Woking to London, the messages were flowing and everything seemed fine. I messaged them when I was 15 minutes away and they replied back saying they see me shortly.

I parked up, walked into the baroom, looked around and sat at the bar. I messaged them to say i had arrived, what i was wearing and where i was sitting and ordered myself a drink.

I waited for an hour, no show

The annoying thing, is that I could see from my kik application that my last message was read.

I took a selfie at the bar with my empty beer bottle, sent it to them and wished them a pleasant evening.

An hour later, they messaged me to say "OH you didn't see us then, we were sitting in the corner"...

Never heard from themy since.

That really pissed me off, I felt royally mugged off that night

This is why I always take my Kindle with me. If I'm going to be stood up I don't want to broadcast to the world I've been stood up.

Theres no need for people to do that,sounds like they had no intention of turning up .I hope you reported them for it.

On my old single profile I was stood up ,arranged to meet in a bar and he didnt turn up.

In the meantime he left fab,the worst thing was he rejoined a while later and messaged me for a meet! And think he expected me not to recognise his profile.
