There are protections for privacy.

The right to a private life and dignity is protected by both UN and EU human rights legislation. A newspaper can't breach information like this.

Once you decide to put your pictures online, you have to understand that you lose total control over them.

Hope he is okay

It's not public.

You have to be a member of a private website to view profiles in full.

Public implies non members can view without signing up.

The daily mail signed up, most likely breached the terms and conditions and published his profile page. That's an unacceptable breach of privacy.

I really don't understand why people are defending this?

I know this. That's why most pics are discrete. I can understand an individual stealing pics and posting them, but not a national newspaper.

Sum1 did that.

They ruled that no one could be expected to read to the end of a profile so the disclaimer didn't count. They then printed the real name and adress of the woman who complaned.

Thats why all my picks are hid till sum1 messages askin for one

.

I'm not an expert but.... Your privacy is only private if you make efforts to keep it private.

However if you create a public profile for it you could hardly be showing to keep it private.

.

The best thing we can all do is rise above the tittle tattle and Just say who cares what they were doing in their life's!

You can hide your profile from showing up on a Google search?

The Mail writes: "Of course, the disappearance of a loved one is understandably stressful"...

But nevertheless devotes 2,000 words to his, his gf & the other woman's sex life, the pregnancy blah blah blah.

who is Sue?? sorry couldn't resist!

whilst is it abhorent that verifications have been lifted from the missing mans profile it doesnt identify any of them by name and people would have to really give a shit to go and dig them out of here.

I think the exposure in the news this week has been pretty positive. No outrage. His mum even said they knew about the profile before he went missing and they are fine with it.

How anyone thinks this angle is going to help get him found i don't know.

I hope he is found safe,it is sad that the media is digging around in his life ,but I do think its a risk you take having public facepics on a swinging site.

It can't be good for his pregnant girlfriend having this splashed all over .

Look at it this way.

This airman has been missing for months. His disappearance has featured across all media sources. BBC Crimewatch has covered it in depth and any possible leads have been followed up by the Police.

Just because his details have linked to this site, doesn't mean it was responsible for his disappearance.

Next week, Police might find another lead and follow that direction.

Meanwhile, the Press has picked up on, in their eyes, a sordid, debauched scenario and will play with it till they become bored and move on!

And for anyone bleating on here about their "privacy bring violated" etc, have one thought, one very important thought.

Your privacy violation is nothing to the endless hell this airman's family, friends and work colleagues are going through, not knowing what has happened to him!

Sorry I do not see the issue here , Unless your profile is set to hidden then it is pretty much open to the public who can join this site free of charge.

Not hard for anyone to come on here and screenshot info and at same time steal pictures.

You completely misunderstood. I don't think my privacy has been violated.

I think that HIS privacy has been violated.

I also wasn't implying that the site is responsible, but THEY are.

Printing a screenshot of which sexual practices he enjoyed is neither relevant to the case nor helpful in finding him. It really isn't benefitting the public to know this - the fact that he enjoyed double penetration has nothing to do with how or why he disappeared, nor how he may be found. It only invades his private life by exposing intensely personal details and making them public knowledge.

It's completely unessesary and insensitive.

A profile is not "public" unless it can be viewed without becoming a member, for example via Google. The moment you have to become a member of a website to view information then it stops being "Public" but "members only", and to become a member you must abide by terms and conditions. Taking "members only" information and publishing it is wrong. If you are a member of a private club and private members can view each others details like phone numbers and home address, then that information would be expected to only be made available to members only, not the general public. it would be a violation of the private members club to simply take that information and put it online or in a newspaper.

"They are believed to now be scouring McKeague's social media accounts, plus his profiles on dating sites. It emerged on Wednesday that his Fab Swingers page had been active last weekend, leading to speculation that he was alive — only for police to establish that the account was in fact being accessed by his family."

That is taken from the report.

So how do we know that it was not someone who was accessing his profile that took screenshots and downloaded the pics then gave them to the media.

How it was obtained is irrelevant. If you read the IPSO editors code there are rules relating to Privacy, intrusion of shock or grief and confidential sources. I believe the article breached all three of those.

I wouldn't have objected necessarily for them stating that he was on a dating website, but publishing pictures of his sexual preferences and verifications really is a step too far.

No, I think you miss the point!

The inclusion of this missing airman's involvement in this site is simply another lead in the legal authorities search to find him.

If nothing comes of it, they will move on to other possible

But his family has already stated they knew he was on here AND may I state, other similar sites too.

If I was in their shoes, waiting for that crucial lead, sighting or other link to help find him, I wouldn't be giving a tuppenny damn what members on said sites thought, so long as he could be located, hopefully, safe and well.

The tabloids will always make it out to be sleezy etc that's the interests of their reporters but in fairness it looks like he was a regular at Barton mills spot as his mobile signal traced him going to this area.. Not in his bmw but obviously a lift there. I wonder if he was a regular there.

The whole story is suspicious but let's hope the answers come out soon

Doubt this site has anything to do with it but the papers are more interested in what his interests were rather that the real issue
